The plan is not to drink, but I'm not sure if that will happen. It's still very early days for me, but the social life here is always based around alcohol. I can't stay in like a hermit for ever, but I'm not sure about my self control. Any tips anyone?

this time around I just told everyone I was having 2 months off alcohol, now no one even asks why I am not drinking even though I've done the two months. If you are having urges and don't want to drink you might have to get outta of there quick.
Starty will have some ideasIt's time I put my big girl pants on. :grannypants: I hope they fit.

For me I stayed in during the early days, just until I was more confident.
If you cant do that, then make sure you eat well before you go out and decide in advance the soft drink you are going to have. Oh and practise asking for it in front of a mirror. Sounds daft but.....
Also, I never thought I would enjoy sober socialising, surprisingly enough I do now, more so than before. But it has taken some time to get to that point.
You can do this Minnie and this is one thing that you WONT regret doing.

I think only one person has commented on me not drinking at the pub anymore. They said surely you've done two months by now. and I just replied "I think I'm going to keep going". At our greyhound meetings (at the pub) most people don't drink, the last meeting we had even the drinkers ordered soft drink for some reasonIt's time I put my big girl pants on. :grannypants: I hope they fit.

I have stayed in until now, but I really want to see people again. Living high up in a large city condo can be very solitary (even though I've got a lovely hubby) and the way of life here is to be out and about. I agree that telling people I'm off alcohol for a couple of months sounds good. Unfortunately I am too well known for my drinking for it to go without comment!!Minnie x
