    Benefits of 30 days?

I'm sitting here at work, thinking it is Friday and thinking about al for tonight. So far have been 5 days af, but needing some support and reasoning to go 30 days af. Can anyone help?

    Thankyou, my friends.

    Hiya Openheart.
30 days will help you reset your clock regarding al, it will give your body a chance to heal a bit.
Do you have a plan to go AF or a plan to Mod? Its really common to get those voices in your head telling you to get a drink after a few days AF. You are probably feeling pretty good, no hangover. And maybe even thinking this time you will control it. Sadly, that is rare.
Write down all your reasons for wanting to quit. Sometimes that will give you the impetus to carry on...
Or watch the rain in my hear documentary. That should put you off nicely.
I will bump it for you....

        Heart...

It's that Friday feeling..it gets us all....end of the week and reward time...thoughts turn to alcohol and we make up all those little excuses as to why we DESERVE it...

Not having a drink at the weekend is HARD.....especially because it is such an ingrained habit...

30 days IMO are essential, like Starty says to let your body heal and also to let your mind heal....and to realise that indeed YES, you CAN make it through a weekend without having a drink...and let me tell you that feeling of achievement is wonderful...sitting there on a Sunday evening so bloody proud of yourself.

remember you decided to quit for a reason..because alcohol was causing problems in your life... why not see how your life is when you remove it for a period of time...
        See how..

        Your skin improves
        Your appetite gets better
        The sluggish feeling diminishes
        The hangovers go away
        Sleep is real sleep
You have more time to do more productive things
        You save money
You begin to find yourself again
You get a sense of ahievement
        You think clearly
        You look better

        The list is endless...

I would urge you to give the gift of 30 days to yourself......you need that amount of time for the clarity to return and for your body to begin to heal itself from the damage of alcohol.

You can do it Heart....I logged in here CONSTANTLY for my first 30 days...I posted, cried, played music, went into chat, pm'd etc etc...but it got me thru....

Keep it up...5 days down.....one day at a time....

We are here for you......pm if you need to..

Openheart, Friday was day 5 for me too. I was scared when I woke up , wondering how I would handle my first AF Friday since my brain remembers! I did it, despite every crappy hurdle that seemed to come my way that day, it felt really good.
I had my goals to keep me focused! And the support here helps so much. My goal is 30 days AF and then I hope to add another month and .... I watched Rain in my Heart last Friday, It was a confronting documentary.
