I've got a little pooch sitting under my desk cos shes feeling insecure with the pops and bangs going on.
She is SOOOOO much better than she used to be though, she'd try and dig her way out..

Its terrible - and you're really powerless under those circumstances.

The little one used to be that way about thunder. She would literally go rigid with fear. Very glad she's OK with it now. Thunder/ lightning isn't a regular occurrence here.

They just need to feel secure, bit like people really when ya think about it. I find petting them soothes my lads down very quickly.

I have heard two schools of thought regarding that...
One says that if you pet them or fuss them when they are frightened, it reinforces that their fearful reaction is the right way to behave.
Whereas if you are matter of fact about stuff, it reinforces there is nothing to be afraid of
