A TOWNSVILLE school has come under fire for giving 240 of its Year 12 school leavers a stubby holder as a graduation gift.
Back later. If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Indeed..the start of that much lauded Strayan collection of stubbie coolers...or beer condoms...or beer sox whatever you like to call them. Good for keeping the beer cold in Summer & the hands warm in Winter.
I'd like to take my collection to the Antiques Roadshow blokes...see what they'd say.

Evening folk's, and Hawney,
Well done on day 3 Ronald.
Day 2 Fick's? Pump it up! And new job going well thank's. Running around like a headless chook at times, whilst trying to do that in a relaxed fashion can be a challenge, but i'm enjoying myself in the real world. It's interesting, as i have to actually 'switch on'. Feck, Dogspeed back to full time music will ya Lord?!
Be very proud of yourself Jonesy. I am. That's actually a big step forward for your al related thought processess.
Are you prepared for your interview tomorrow Angel? What do you know about the company? What impresses you about them? Why do you want to work there? What will you bring to the job? What IS the job? What is their history? How do you relate to the company's philosophy/mission statement? What is it? What do you think of their website? What questions do you have for them?
Strength and patience to all.

THE NEXT DAY THREAD - NOVEMBER
Well then. Let me tell you about my day. Woke with a sudden start and saw it was 4am. Even early risers like me don't need to get up at 4, so I stayed in and slept on. Wasn't until I read the NDT that I realised I must have been chanelling Reggie as he was being strapped into his seat belt and adjusting his shit grips. Checked the news periodically and noted no Bris-bane bound planes came to any unfortunate end, so, figuring Reggie hs survived yet another flight.
And then it occurred to me that I seem to be the only one of us not in proper employment OR a mum of young kids and I obviously have far too much 'thinking time'. Cutting out some dead bamboo today I wondered - how is it possible to spend so much time thinkng about faceless, unknown people with really weird names?
How can I have mental conversations with people I've never met but want to say girls, you gotta get your finances sorted. Get rid of the Visa burden. Pay it off asap and keep it paid off.
Mame- I think it will get worse before it gets better. Maybe now is the time to totally go overboard and swim/run/cycle like a maniac - just for YOU. IMHO there is nothing like physical exhaustion to make for calm, deep sleep. A very necesary, albeit temporary respite, until things run their natural course.
Angel - 20 hrs per week would be ideal and what a good good thing to reclaim some of the self-confidence that comes with doing something you love.
Wavey - you know ... there is a real art to receiving. A whle ago, people really put out their hands to you. They offered friendship and an ear. The stoic Don't worry, I'll be alright retort is a tad um ... silly? Try to accept gifts graciously. I know, it's hard.
Mr G and Aspy? What can I say? You blokes are rocking.
Chook? Chook? Heeeeere choock chook
Bets and Minnie? You've been quiet since your Singers meet-up.
Now let's get this sorted. I will NEVER say I love you guys. Because I don't. But I sure as hell respect the things you're doing to grab this beastie by the balls.
Now I am going to retire, not as rooted as I was yesterday but very pleasantly buggered.. The mozzie coil is lit, the cat is curled ... life is calm.

I'm here, just busy busy.
Nice post Tawny.
I went to see a career counselor about what I want to do when I grow up. She referred me to be tested for adult ADD, don't know wether to laugh or cry - will keep you posted.
I haven't read back so hope all are ok.
Spent most of my first salary on a Kitchenaid stand mixer today - woo hoo!
Take care all

It is the perfect time of year to be getting up at 5:30 and heading off to the gym and the pool. Which is where I am off to right now!! And Wellington is always so beautiful in the mornings.
3 triathlons booked last night - 6 February, 28 February and 28 March. Starting off with a really little one and gradually increasing to a "sprint" one. Every year I aspire to a full one but running 10km is beyond me these days!
have a great day everyone!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Day 3.. another lightening post..
Love to see you all doing so well and I'm off to buy some of Robertas amino acid complete - i really think it helps keep the black dawg at bay & haven't had any in ages.
But Betts... a career counselor referring you for ADD testing? I don't actually think that is her 'area'. I would laugh if I were you and try another agency!
Tawny.. loved your post for Waves.. that is what I tried to say with the Paul Kelly song 'careless' - tis about how the black dog makes you lock out people who care for you and you don't realise they were trying to get in and help until afterwards.. if you can learn that much you can be prepared for next time.. but the worst must pass before hindsight can come. Thinkin of you Wavey. Are your seeds in?
Go hard everyone!!

Morning all and all to come,
Aspy - I'm sure it's a TOTAL coincidence! lol. Hey, at $10 a month it would be well worth it. Give young Angel a run for her money.
Wonderful, steady rain here. Loving it. Looks like indoor domestic duties for this little black frog. ... blech ...
