    NO-Bender Challenge

Hi Elsa! Love seeing your avatar! One of my aunties had a corgi when I was small and I loved that dog to bits!!

Angel - well done on getting through last night!! Bring on the cheezels!

Roberta - you are doing so well, keep it up.

HDB - anyway you can talk to you hub about it in advance without giving away the specifics? Like "I am thiniing about planning something special for your birthday, but its important to me that I dont have a drink during it .... would you be okay with that?" sort of conversation.

Otherwise I would go with Angel's suggestion of something sparkling and nice! Last Xmas there was an influx here of a South African tipple that went by a "Chamdor" label. There was a sparkling grape juice with peach flavour that I swear was just as good as the Peach Schapps/sparkling wine mix that is always my summer favourite. And even better, pre-Xasm and all through January it was only about $3 a bottle!! We ended up drinking quite a lot of it last summe .... on the deck after work as the sun set. Funnily enough (:H:H) I never had more than one because it was quite sweet (although that never stopped me with the wine!) Haven't seen it much since then ...... I might see if I can locate a NZ supplier and get a couple of cases to stock up for Xmas!!

Afternoon everyone- another AF day-hope you're bearing up! what is everyone doing at the end of the 30 days ? or is it too early to think that far ahead. Managed to get the opened bottle of wine out of the way last night without drinking any myself- hallelujah!
It dosen't seem so bad looking at unopened ones or cans of beer (as I don't like or feel tempted by beer) looking forward to weekend and planning to go on some long walks-if it ever stops raining- R

Well done Roberta! Beer never worries me either ....... and we have two bottles of red wine that have been in the cupboard for about two years that have become so much part of the furniture that I never even think twice about them. But I often in the past have found it odd that I've been so out of control with my drinking in some respects, but never felt in the least tempted to open them. (And strictly speaking they are Uncle Mame's, so in a sense it would be a really big breach of trust to do so).

Morning Angel!! And happy Friday night to Ruby and HDB and Elsa! Chief and DLA - you still here??!!

How is everyone feeling? I'm feeling great being back on track at the end of the week, even if I was a total loser at the beginning. At the end of my totally out of it day, I had a call from a very good friend who has been dry and sober for 25 years, and whose advice I greatly value. Anyway, we talked about a lot of things, and particularly about how to manage all the competing demands on my time at the moment - work, sick family members, trying to get some time with my partner, Xmas functions and sticking to my triathlon training programme (and how to build in "response capacity"!! in case anything unexpected happens).

Anyway, it was really helpful, and I have a plan for managing everything through to the end of January (and which also leaves time for a short break at Xmas/New Year!). Of course my chances of getting through it all will be greatly enhanced by keeping on the straight and narrow. My main thing is saying no to things that come along that have the potential to de-rail me .......!!

I''ve been re-visiting the hpno CDs, but they have never done much for me (and last year at one point I went to "real time" hpno, and that didn't do much for me either ...... I think I probably bring excessive skepticism to the process!! However I was thinking that I might try to see whether there are any relaxing and profound (!!) audio books that might also do the trick, that I could download onto my i-pod. I often listen to it falling off to sleep, or when I wake up in the middle of the night - anyway, if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them!!

Have a lovely day everyone and please feel fre to chip in whether you have posted before or not!!! I have a few work things to get done today in amongst other weekend things, so will pop in to see who is around to ctach up with at various points!!

          have a great day everyone

Saturday afternoon, 4.30pm...made it through last night but I'm in a shocking mood. I want to drink so badly I feel like I want to actually cry. I'm trying really hard to remember why I'm doing this...my drinking was at a stage I was pretty much happy with...it was the cigs that I really couldn't bare. And yesterday was such a struggle also - does every day have to be such a struggle *sob*???
            Ugh.

                It's a thought, Angel.

                It's only a bloody thought.
