Mac Heads - (nothing to do with drinking)

I currently run an eMac desktop and a wonderful MacBook and am thinking of upgrading the very heavy and cumbersome eMac. Does anyone have the new 27" iMac and if so - is it good? I've read the reviews etc. but wanted some first-hand accounts.

I apologise in advance if this is not an appropriate use of a thread.

I have the 24 inch Imac Tawny, I cannot tell you how pleased I am with it. Coming from a pc that was slow, always getting virus' clogged up with kit no one would use. The IMac simply does what what it says on the tin....beautifully

Thanks Starty. I've always had Macs - my first was a 512, I think that had a 9" screen. LMAO. I've NEVER had a virus. What I like about the 27" is the wireless keyboard and mouse. Seems too good to be true.

The mouse is the ONLY thing I couldnt get on with....Mac mice are so different from the conventional ones that I returned back to my old faithful logitech wireless one...

Hi Tawny,

Uncle Mame is a complete Mac head and after reading the reviews of the 27" he wants one too!!

He says the reviews have been fabulous, particularly the fact that the screen has a "video in" port - which means that the monitor will be useful even once the computer has outlasted its use.

He said that there is some issues with playing flash drive movies, but expects that to be fixed with a software upgrade fairly soon.

I've got a wireless keyboard and mouse for my i-Mac at work (a mere 20"!!) and I love not having wires all over the place to clutter up the desk. And I have a wireless keyboard at home because my cat likes to lie between me and the laptop, which makes it too hard to type!!!

Hi Tawny my first new mac was a quadra 630 circa 94, remember them? I have been using macs ever since on a daily basis. Like you I have never had a virus in all that time and they are truly unburstable. The newer ones are getting even better and better with every release. Currently run four macs, the most up to date I have is the 2007 aluminium 17" mac book pro running OSX10.5.8 and it is the dogs....
As for the new 27" imac well what a stunning piece of kit, I would say you will never regret buying one. I am turning a little frog-like (green) now

We have never had anything but Macs and still cannot get our heads around the fact that there are STILL people in the world who use PCs, and STILL people who (claim to) prefer PCs.

My fist Mac was an SE bought in 1988! You should see it -- it is so ugly, nothing like the sleek designs of today.

I now have a MacBook and wireless keyboard and I love this little machine. It goes with me everywhere, and with wifi practically everywhere, the world is my office.

Of course, I can check my e-mails and surf the net on my iPhone, so I could probably leave the computer home once in a while, like a trip to grocery store=-)
