I made my 30 day commitment!

Okay guys, I just crossed the finsih line of my first 30 days. I made it through 1 playoff and two world series games sober. I have never left a Yankee Game sober in the passed 10 years! I had my ups and downs, but the more time I get under my belt, the easier it becomes. I don't have any plans for right now, but to not drink today. I will take this week to re-evaluate. I have never tried to moderate but I'm thinking it might not be for me. I'm the type of person that when I drink I open my car door and it gets blown off by a passing vehicle (even though I'm just a passenger). I'm going to celebrate today by going to the gym (BTW, down 8lbs), watching the auto race, making tiramisu, and enjoy the Yankee Game at home.

Have to say, I do miss going to the bar w/ friends, but I did it sober a few times and after an hour and a half, I realized drunk people are only fun when you are one of them. At least I don't wake up hating myself anymore (and it's nice to have all four doors on your auto)!

Thanks for all of your support. I'm sticking around for awhile.

So wonderful to hear. Sometimes we feel we are on our journey alone, but MWO has given me thewonderful feeling of support, understanding, and friendship I never had before, since I couldn't tell most people what was really going on in my life. You have made great strides, great gains. Your plan has taken you away from THAT person, and back to you, and all your beautiful possibilities. BTW, is it the Talledega race you're watching?

        Well done SG!
You will probably find that socialising in bars becomes easier and more fun with time. Although you might not want to stay out as late as usual :-)

SG, that is just awesome, and with those trigger events in your 30 days to boot! And congrats on the bonus weight loss too. You are doing such a great job, overall, of taking care of your health, do not stop the momentum now! We are proud of you, and you should be of yourself as well. You are an inspiration to so many.

Shirazgirl, that's great on the 30 days! Personally , when I filled my DrinkTracker for a full month, I was inspired to see that next blank beige one go all yellow as well! :H

I'm glad to see you're being thoughtful about your next step. I sometimes feel like I'm back at about 12 years old, and realize that my favorite sports or other events were fun then and still are without AL.

As Ruby asked, are you watching Talledega? That will be plenty exciting, no AL needed. I will be, and Ruby I'm hoping to get out to TMS next weekend at least for practice and qualifying. I do plan on filling my cooler with Diet Dr. Pepper instead of beer, though! I'll still have the banned substance logo on my attire, however! :H How ironic is that?

Anyway, keep up the good work Shirazgirl! Much love to you! :h

                    Hi Ruby,
Indeed that race would be Talladega. I never thought I would be interested in auto racing but a good friend of mine was a Nacar driver (Jerry Nadeau) for a while. We used to go to the races to cheer him on. He was a local here. Unfortunately, Jerry hit the wall in VA about 5 years ago and scrambled his brains up pretty good. He is no longer able to drive.

I took up w/ another driver and continue to follow the races. What about you.

Thanks everyone for your support. It means oceans to me.

Shir and Angel, I'm a co-dependant auto racing nut. Not too bad, tho. We've been to Tall sev times, it's near here. Hubs was a huge Earhardt Sr. fan. He looks like him, acts like him, and our our son races locally who is jr.'s age. Let everyone laugh - this is the biggest, most profitable sport anywhere. Just bought the Wii game, and it's such a hoot to watch Hubs and 3 y/o grandson driving! I will never worry when I ride with him in my old age. LOL

You did make me laugh though, as your thoughts are a mirror-image of my own.........drunk people really are only fun when you`re one of them!!! I can`t imagine spending a few hours in a pub these days, since I`m no longer a drunk person........would drive me bonkers :H

                              Hi All
Congrats Shariz!!!! isn't it better watching the game and worrying about Jetter getting on instead of where the beer man is. Look honestly at your past history with AL and decide what is best for you. One thing to think about being AF can never be a mistake.
