My brother, just back from 7 years in the UK was telling me about some court case which might end in the banks refunding a lot of fees which are charged when there are insufficient funds....

The banks take out the largest checks first, then can add a charge to each of the little ones that come after. Someone's FINALLY paying attention to the customer.

Its gone mad altogether, my son was short €2.80 on his DD for car insuance and they charged €12.70 because of it

Opes, tell him to raise hell with them. Actually, if he goes in an talks to someone, points out the disparity, many times they will refund the charges to keep the business.

I had a debit bounce this month for R20 because they put it through on the 25th of the month -- this is for one of those extra banking services right, only to be charged........R100!!!

I'm telling, go in and talk to them. They are human beings, after all (I think). Be sure you're talking to someone who has the power to reverse the charge.
