Mama and I were standing on the drawbridge taking photos. Mama forgot the fort shoots the cannon every day at 4:00 and she almost dropped me and her camera in the water. Her man cub couldn't quit laughing at his silly mom. See the cannon smoke??

Too funny, MB!! It's a shame how synonymous American football is with AL, isn't it? (and half nekkid girls!?) I've been through the alligator farm AND the fort! There is a sign in the farm saying 'Parents, Don't Carry Your Children On Your Shoulders'. Maybe since they feed the gators by holding dead chickens out over the water and wiggle them!
Loved touring the fort! Haven't been there in about 4 years, but amazing to walk through a place built 500 years ago, imagine what it was like to live there at the time, always watching out for attacking Indians and ships. And then, the diseases there killed half the people before they reach 25. It wasn't a beach paradise, but a swampy, mosquito-ridden hell, especially for the slaves. We stayed at a resort once called Alligator Point. Hummmmm? I didn't go in the water. How far we have come!
PS: For those who remember CarrieLou, she lives right across the street from the fort and cemetary.
