Aunt Mim took me to the ancient cemetary, a walking's pace from the big house, and very near Aunt Mims. This is the tombstone of a relative who came back from the Civil War, but never regained his old wits. He wore his army coat until the day he died.

In old cemetaries, these were called tombs. There are 5 here (hard to see some). The middle tomb is Aunt Mim's ggggrandfather, who was married 4 times ( times were hard on women back then). His first wife was the one related to the big house, daughter of George's cousin. Her name was Talitha Cumi Stephens. Mimi's late aunt who would be 100 this year, said our ancestor 'liked to shoe the horse all the way around'. (Hence his 4 wives!!).

Uncle Rubes built this cradle decades ago for all the babies in Mim's family. Their names are burned into the wood underneath. VEDDY Comfortable!!
