This was Marie's bedroom! What a tiny bed!

I wish they'd light the fireplace! It's chilly in here and my fur is a bit damp.

Now we are moving on to Marie's hamlet. In 1783, she had Richard Mique build the Hamlet: 12 houses with thatched roofs (a dairy, a fishery, a barn, a mill, a farm...). The Temple of Love:h built in 1778 was one of Marie's favourite venues for her "Fetes de Nuits".

Yeah! Marie's farm! It's hard to believe we are only 30 minutes outside of the Paris city centre! It is beautiful here (though a bit cold!) and smells all farmy and country like. Sorry, but Paris is a bit smelly! Too much pollution.

Marie was quite a beautiful girl for her time with fair skin, straw blond hair and deep blue eyes. BUT...she was criticised for her inability to "inspire passion" in her husband who rarely slept with her, and had no interest in doing so, being more interested in his hobbies such as lock-making and hunting. Well, we can understand why poor Marie needed all those other activities to keep her occupied.

Like her animals and music concerts or whatever else she got up to!

As we all know...things ended badly for Marie. Louis was executed on 21 January 1793, at the age of 38. Marie-Antoinette's health rapidly deteriorated in the following months. By this time she suffered from tuberculosis and possibly uterine cancer, which caused her to hemorrage frequently. She was declared guilty of treason in the early morning of 16 October. On the same day, her hair was cut off and she was driven through Paris in an open cart, wearing a simple white dress. At 12:15 pm, two and a half weeks before her thiry-eighth birthday, she was executed at the now Place de la Concorde in Paris. Her last words were, "Pardon me Sir, I meant not to do it", to Sanson the executioner, whose foot she had accidentally stepped on before she was executed by guillotine. Her body was thrown into an unmarked grave. :upset: Couldn't they have just taken away the palace and just let her live in one of those thatched houses? I think she could have been very content there with her pets. Expat says she even had a little pug dog! What happened to him???

A last few photos of Versailles before we head home. Good bye Marie!!:upset: I know you were not really a meanie! You probably never even wanted to leave Austria as just a little girl and come to France! sniff

Only two more days in Paris. I'll miss expat... but especially the little boy child. But I miss all the wonderful MWO host and hostess' who have shown me so many incredible places!:upset: Expat and I stayed up late (too late) last night looking over some of my incredible adventures! She said Sweaty Betty's pics had her ready to run out and get sushi:H! I AM a lucky little guy. Everywhere I've been has just been brilliant. I need to start getting ready for my next trip. Expat won't tell me yet (though she did say we'll talk about it before I go) BUT she did say it is an incredible and beautiful place. With a very nice and attractive person waiting for me!

:H NO Betty!! I was with my 14 yr old daughter. She's quite a beauty-tall, blonde with blue eyes. I can brag a bit because she looks nothing like me-short, dark hair and blue eyes, haha! But the Pigalle area can be a bit dodgey. A few comments were made towards my daughter like "Can I get you anything, Princess?" !!!! Tigger and I immediately growled at them! I may be small--but don't mess with my cubs! So...we left shortly after and went up to Montmarte!:l Greenie!
