Happy thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in Canada and the United States. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. While perhaps religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday.

Happy Irish Thanksgiving to you, Mario! I'll have some extra turkey for you!
But, seriously, I will be giving extra thanks this year for my new sober life, and folks such as you who are always there offering support and wisdom even though most of us have never met. I raise my Diet Dr. Pepper to all of you!
Happy Thanksgiving! Much love to you all! :hEmancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind ~ Bob Marley ~ Redemption Song

Happy thanksgiving
We were taught in school that Thanksgiving began with a celebration between pilgrems and Indians. We made headdresses and turkeys and pilgrem's hat, put on plays. My grandchildren do the same things today. We still have turkey and dressing, but now there is football! However, the meaning, giving thanks for our blessings is the same, and this place is one of my blessings. And I especially give thanks for the many beautiful people who have come through my life here.sigpic

Happy thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving all!
The Pilgrims came to American in 1620 to escape religious persecution. The King of England put them in jail for worshipping as they wanted, and finally said they could go away to get rid of them. They arrived on Plymouth Rock on December 11, 1620, to a land full of problems. The Indians took pity on them and taught them how to build houses, hunt and fish. The next year, after the harvest, the Pilgrims invited the Indians to a feast which lasted 3 days. The Indians brought deer, and the Pilgrims served turkey, squash, fish, corn, and lots of other things. The Pilgrims remembered to thank God for having the freedom to worship as they wanted. This idea of secularism continues today, as Thanksgiving is NOT a religious holiday, nor are there presents involved. I hope America continues as a secular country.Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.

GIVING THANKS
I am not American, but I'd love to give thanks ....that's the custom isn't it ?
I am thankful for:
My beautiful child
My health
To have solid roof over my head
To have wholesome food to eat
To live in a free country where I can speak my mind
To have good friends and a family (who are strange), but genuinely love me :H
To have the intelligence to choose and steer the course of my own life.If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Happy thanksgiving
I'm studying with a Jehovah's Witness lady, and they think Thanksgiving is political and don't celebrate it. I can't get on board with that. It's good to have a day set aside to give thanks for our blessings. Happy Thanksgiving! (no matter where you are or what religion (or not) you practice.)Kelly
