    Men No Pause Here!!!

Okay, Gals. That's the winner, at least for this week's thread! I think it's PERFECT!

Day 1 for me, Gold and Tawny. Anyone else out there want to join us? What a fantastic support group we've got here, huh girls! I know we can do this. Feeling healthier and happier already. Besides feeling better I want to get as clever as those of you who have gone before; maybe even learn to insert the little smilies and type in different fonts! See, my brain is so foggy right now even THAT seems too hard to accomplish!

Great idea, Phoenix. I'll go next.

I'm 56, married 32 years, two step-daughters in their 30's (one of which has my 3 grandchildren), a daughter 26, son 24 and a four year old in heaven (he died 17 years ago....don't be sad, though, cuz God was so good to me that it was truly an amazing time)

Love gardening, cooking and reading. Realtor for a living but right now my business truly sucks and I swear it is because alcohol has robbed me of energy and motivation. Looking forward to having much more prosperous years ahead!

I'd say I am a fantastic cook and a horrible housekeeper.....hate it, hate it, hate it.

My sprituality is VERY IMPORTANT to me......probably the biggest reason I am wanting to quit.

Wanting (needing) to lose 25 lbs. I intend to have tomorrow as Day 1 for my new exercise and diet regimen.

Just want to say THANKS to each and every one of you for being here for me. I feel the love and know that once and for all I am going to do this with your help.

    Hi New Creation...great start.

I'll be 48 in a couple weeks. (YIKES), I'm a single mom of a daughter 22, a son 18 and a yorkie that is 3. I like to dance, draw and take yoga. Don't like to cook much, but do like a neat and orderly house. I am also in Real Estate....and it is truly sucky. My motivation is also at an all time low. Let's get ourselves motivated...girl...get out there and sell, sell, sell.

I'm back to Day 1. It's a beautiful day out...so heading outside for fun in the crisp, sunny air with my yorkie.

Working on my spirituality and recently found a meditation group that I enjoy.

Everything I need is within me!

all you will receive will be a rally of support and ideas from personal experiance from all round and lots of hugs......:l:l:l:l

all I will say at the moment is I am 50 years young have three children and live in the canarys,

Hey I posted on gals in their 50's before I saw the new name.
Brightlight, I have almost 4 months af and meditation in a group has been such an important thing that I've done to help keep me sober. For me spirituality has nothing to do with going to church. I'm more spiritual hiking in the mountains.
        I love your quote.

Spedteach, I totally agree. My "church" is the woods. I love to hike with my dogs on Sunday morning when the sun is still coming up and it's so quiet.. Just got back from a 5 mile hike just now and my legs are tired!!

Hello, girls. I tacked a note on the door about the move, so hope everyone finds us. If not, we'll go get them one by one.
I just turned 58, and Hubs won't until Dec. 13, an unceasing source of humor for him! We have 2 grown children; our son has 3 girls,6, 12, & 16(aargh!), and a step-daughter with a 1 yr-old baby. Our daughter has a 9 y/o daughter and 2 4 y/o boys. We live in the country, I'm disabled but help out with our rental property. We've been married 39+ years, Hubs has been at his job 33+ years. My favorite place is our cabin in the mountains. I have 3 dogs, Hubs has one spawn of Satan. I love anything creative; painting, sewing, building, designing, cooking, anything, plus nature and animals. I have down many animal rescues in the past. So, that's me. Any questions? There will be a quiz tomorrow.

Have got to thinking that maybe LadyJan is right and that if we keep things a little more private (like she says, facts will come out eventually about our lives) that more will be inclined to join us. What do y'all think? Also, thanks Rubes for posting the note on the Gals thread. I agree with you that we will have to go hunt them down if they don't find us. We were having too much fun over there.

The dog's name is Sadie, but I called her Satan so much my youngest grandchildren were calling her that when they talked about her at home. My daughter thought it was her name! My vet spends about an hour in the exam room with me each visit, laughing and talking. Says he knows they're driving me crazy but it's hysterical. I had just asked it I could be prosecuted for 'shaken dog syndrome'.

                      Too funny rubywillow.

So as I was sorting through my day yesterday, I was trying to think up a name for our new group. Glad to see a name has been found,
and I love it as well.
Today I finally met my new Landlord..had been dealing with the Property Manager. I have to tell you ladies..he is HOT!!!!!! Dessert for the eyes!
There's probably going to be a lot of things breaking down regularly at my new place, I don't know, I just have this feeling...:cheering

Off for a walk now..enjoy your day and good luck to you all starting day 1. Very proud of you!!!

I'm already anonymous, so I will share a little about myself (if someone else prefers to be more private, that's OK too). Besides I've been here awhile, no one can see me, and any person reading this forum is most likely here for the same reason as me. In real life I am an extremely private person.

I am 54, never married (unless you count my ex-boyfriend of 18 years, who is still my roommate, and who my neighbors who don't know us well always refer to as my husband - and this increased once we were no longer together - does that make us look married or what?), no kids, 3 cats, plus a feral cat Mafia that knows a sucker when they see one, a Quarter Horse (who doesn't live with me - I'm in the city).

I work as a decorative artist/wood finisher, doing contract work for interior designers (so my work is next to nothing right now as well, as this ties into real estate). I do everything from painted finishes (such as faux finishing) and leafing, including 22k water gilding. All the work is custom, and I've been doing it for 28 years. I'm self employed, work out of my house, so have a flexible schedule, which I love, since I'm kind of a night person. You could probably say I have an artistic temperament, as far as what I'm like in person. I make my own rules, always have, and have pretty varied interests - art, horses, metaphysics, reggae music, NASCAR. Or maybe it's just my adult ADHD. But I do think my flexibility has allowed me to find my way through the sobriety challenges - once I committed that is - I probably used the same tactics to find drinking excuses previously!

OK, that's me, most of it, I think!

Phoenix - You're right about the boob thing! Ugh! Sometimes I have selective memory, I guess!
Hi, again, Tawny - I haven't seen you in awhile, glad you're here.
Gold - I bookmarked your animal healing site. I always find that fascinating. One dressage clinician I work with is into a lot of alternative treatments, including body work for both horses and riders. We used to schedule a Feldenkrais practitioner, and that was interesting stuff.
Rejuvenate - that's a great point you make about the sugar substitute. I can always really feel when I've consumed too much (normally very little). I felt kind of funky after all this leftover pie I had on Friday. Awareness, awareness, awareness.
Hi, spedteach! I think we've mwt on some other thread, but that was awhile ago.
Hi, Bouchard, nice to meet you too.
Ruby - I used to have a dog named Satin, who my country guy vet always thought was named Satan when he read the chart. The dog actually loved everyone, including the vet, so it was not a personality thing (there are a lot of Jack Russells in the horse world, and I always ask myself, "why?"). Oh, yeah, the Raging Hormones is also a great name! :H

Dance...you probably know this...but Jack Russells have always been used in the barns to chase away rats and vermin (they've killed many a cat too). I had one of those mini mini Jacks once. You might say he had that "little Man or Napoleonic complex" In the evenings he used to come and sit by the sofa where I would be watching TV and start groweling at me until I went to bed. He wanted me in bed so he could sleep there too. Poor little thing...he would usually start it around 8:30pm and I would have to keep telling him that it wasn't bed time yet. Bossy little thing, but very smart.

Hello ladies! I'm zoom zoomin' today but wanted to give one more :H to our wonderful group name and wish everyone well - especially those getting started on Day1. Don't give in. The good news about sticking to your guns is never having to go through Day 1 and those early days ever again!

You guys are too funny. And I vote we have a get together someday at DLA's new place so long as the toilet breaks down or something.

Brightlight, dogs are really funny in their attempts to get what they want, aren't they?

                            Ciao for now,

Hi, ladies. I would love to be able to join in this great club! I will be 50 in July....have been menopausal since a hysterectomy 11 yrs ago. I am married with 3 kids - my precious daughter who is 29 is giving me my 1st grandchild (girl) in January; a son - 26 who lives w/me and son - 15. I've been AF for 82 days - 1st time in 10 years. I LOVE coming here and reading everyone's posts and feeling like you are all my friends. I also need to lose about 20 lbs. and to gain energy. Oh, yeah, I want to quit smoking too. Anyway, I would be honored to be accepted here.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
