Just popping in to say hello to fellow menoprincesses! We need tiaras! NOW!! Ladyjan, your post from yesterday morning describing the life of a woman was so funny and so spot on I was in tears (of laughter!) reading it! That should be a "sticky" on top of this thread!

All is well here in menoDGprincessland. No drinking, and no hot flashes to speak of today. Life is good. At least one of those two things I can control!

DLA - how're you doing??? Keep talking to us!! I agree with what others have said .... as real people we cant seperate out bits of ourselves and compartmentalise them. We are alcoholics and menopausal and coping with everything that is going on in our lives all at the same time.

LJ: Think you should get a new GP - one that has less of a need to present you with cold hard facts!! :H I'm looking forward to seeing photos of Tigger in the Canaries!!! Will he be with you for Xmas???!!

Hi ladies.
You may have come across my posts on other threads. So bere with me if you have read what I have cut and pasted for my introduction. (done it this way just to save some time)

I really related to a post I read about "seeing our spare time being taken over by drinking,- something we did not have in mind for the rest of her life."

I see for sure in this thread that there are lots of others who are seeing themselves developing a lifestyle where it is becoming very difficult to moderate their drinking.
I like them, have always taken a drink but seems that as the responsibilities for raising my family is over I am quietly and ever so easily drifting into a place where I am craving that drink every day at 6 or 7 o'clock. I am finding it acceptable to have three or four every evenning.
Then, (like you maybe) I am thinking, is this the way I want to spend the rest of my life.

I read an artircle in a magazine recently titled ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE which gave me the idea to start a thread called the Optomism Journal in the Monthly Moderation Forum Please check it out and share any obtomistic feeling about things you have done in your pursuits to change your life .

Doggygirl - Love the tiara! Very tasteful, and so appropriate. Perhaps we could get an MWO discount if we buy them by the case?

Wannabee - That's a great idea! I looked at your post, but hadn't seen it before since I am AF and don't usually look in the mods section. But I agree wholeheartedly. Changing our thinking is so crucial to changing our lives, and I've found this to be a major part of my own success. In fact, it is one common thread I see in the people here who are successful in becoming and staying AF.

I look at clips like these and it's hard to believe I really lived through these eras. It's bittersweet, remembering my children as babies, Hubs and me so young (and dumb!), how happy we were with so little, and how simple life seemed to be. I wouldn't relive it, but I wouldn't take anything for the memories. My daughter somehow ended up at an Anne Murray show a few years back, and she said she was one of the youngest in the crowd, but she sang along to all the songs because she remembered them from her childhood. LOL Anyway, enough of chasing rabbits, time to start THIS day. Have a wonderful one, you Queens of your own Destiny!

Evening went well - I had one drink and a beer and called it a night. I am hoping to be AF for the rest of the week. I am seeing the cravings lessen as I increase my baclofen does. (Now at 140) I think I can do this.

I find it helps to organize chores into categories: Things I Won't Do Now; Things I Won't Do Later; Things I'll Never Do.

When you're feeling stressed out, I think it helps to make a nice hot cup of tea and then spill it in the lap of whoever's bugging you.

At our age,the number one fashion question is: Can you nap in it?

Age doesn't make you forgetful. Having way too many stupid things to remember makes you forgetful.

Never go to bed angry...stay up and plot your revenge!

Smoke detectors need to be tested from time to time. So sometimes I cook something.

Maybe I've been asking for too much. How about peace OR quiet?

OK, here's my ode to stupid things. Snuggies. I am the clumsiest person in the world. Now, if I zip myself up inside a a blanket, and forget I can't walk (which I will) , I can do some real damage to my body parts. And NOW they have them for DOGS. There's a pic of a little dog wearing one, and glasses, reading a book. If I put one on Hub's Jack Ass Terrier it would be full of poop in 10 minutes. Where do people come up with this stuff??

Ruby Factoid of the Day: When I was about 8 we went to the local swimming hole near the river, a gorgeous waterfall and rock cliffs. I followed my older boy cousins and climbed the sheer, 60' rock cliff, then was too terrified to climb down, so I walked down to the stream above the waterfall and jumped in at the falls.
