    Men No Pause Here!!!

In my part of Canada (Quebec Ontario border), it's 11:30 a.m and at work being a very GOOD girl.. but it's easy during the day. One day I want to visit your part of the world. It's one of my dreams.

Yogi makes some wonderful diet tea, sort of peach and peppery. Can't remember the name, but I'll look it up. Has everyone here seen "Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo? Made 20 years ago, but I watch it over and over this time of year. AND laugh, over and over. Probably his funniest movie ever. I want to lose 40 pounds by next August, when Hubs and I celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. We're planning a party, and you're all invited, so plan on it NOW!

Well we're driving from Quebec to Sturgis which is in South Dakota (I hope) in August on our Harley (my poor bum) so maybe I'll be at your party Ruby Willow... see why it's so hard not to drink. All my friends are Bikers.. ha ha. We'll hit every biker bar on the way down and hopefully drink club soda... especially the guy with the handle bars in his control... hubby. I am just a middle aged menopausal mother of three who happens to spend time each summer on the back of a Harley. It's actually a lot of fun and we've met some wonderful French Canadian Bikers through our local club. Drinking is part of the biker community social life. Hard, hard, hard to stop.

I love that movie with Chevy Chase. It really is hilarious. I love stupid humour. Like "What About Bob?" with Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss. Laughing is my saving grace.

                Tipplerette -

Heavy drinking is also big among horsewomen, artists, and musicians. Heavy recreational drug use is also common in the last two groups. These three groups of people ARE my social life, which I don't plan on giving up. I'm also not in Junior High school anymore, so I can't use excuses of peer pressure. Even at age 15, I knew I was choosing these behaviors, no one "made me" do it. Giving up AL is something we make a commitment to or we don't - it's that simple. Whether you choose to drink is a separate issue from who you choose to hang out with.

Wow!! We ride a Harley, I'm an artist and musician, and live in the middle of horse country. Have friends who participate in equestrian arts around the world. Do we have things in common or what? Never been to Sturgis (yet) though.

That post was not meant to put anyone off - I just believe it is better to tell it like it is. I know everyone is here to change, and I do support their efforts. I personally had to take a very hard look at myself and my previous behaviors, and own up to them before I could change them. I also am making a point of putting out what did work for me. Alcoholism is not something that can be sugar coated, it is not something to tiptoe around or play with. Just so you all know!

OK, I'll be nice for the rest of today! :h

Ruby, thanks for that link to the song (and I plan on remembering what it felt like if I ever can't! Meanwhile, I will!). Do you play music professionally? Do you sing, and what instruments do you play? I know lots of music people, my roommate's an artist and musician (OK, I guess that explains why I keep him around). I'm not musical at all, just love listening to it, and any good music makes me wanna dance :H. I like learning about it, and I always hear music I wouldn't have been exposed to without my music buddies. There really is too much in the whole world to ever have time to hear it all. So I never get bored with it.

Art and horses are my areas of expertise, and I think I was born that way.

I play piano and am learning Mandolin. People pay me not to sing. LOL I paint, do stained glass, sew, needlework, building projects, etc.etc.etc. Anything creative, really. Oh, and writing. I love poetry.

That's cool! I can't sing either (I only do it in the car, on the freeway, where it's less noticeable to other drivers!). Someone gave my roommate an old banjo, which just sort of sat out as decoration, until one of the cats started trying to play it (usually in the middle of the night).

I used to paint (and kind of still do on my work stuff), as well as make stuff, especially as a kid. All my model horses had several sets of tack I made. Now they have actual horse shows for them. I was ahead of my time, as a kid anyway! Art class was the one class I never skipped in school. I used to spend all my study halls in the art room. My art teacher may have been the only teacher who adored me! :H

Our 9 y/o g'daughter adores Taylor Swift and has performed in front of hundreds of people, singing her songs. She says shes going to be a star. Daughter (her mom's) BF is a guitarist in Nashville and has played with all the big stars there. He's a really cool kid. One of my best friends son is a country music super star too. My family and his have always known each other, and when she told me he was going to Nashville, I said, 'well, just tell him to remember I knew him when', never dreaming he'd be doing sold out concerts all over the world. My fav country artists though are Emmy Lou Harris and Alison Krauss.
