      Thx, Ficks

I sometimes wonder if I should post these things, because it makes me look even more fecked up than I already am...

But yeah, I reckon I'm making good progress.

As for your kwismas tree - it looks great.

We haven't done x-mas trees - ever. Just a cultural thing. I'm reconsidering now. I think the cubs will have great fun decorating it. The big question: where to find one??? Any ideas for alternatives? I don't like the artificial option (no offense intended).
      I'll do whatever it takes

THE NEXT DAY THREAD - DECEMBER

        Good morning!
Post away Tippy, nobody more fecked up than I have been... I don't believe in a more/less universe it's just all around us and we are part of it and we are all tryin to make sense of it together. I just know the GP's here were giving out ritalin like smarties when my kids were little. Of it's benefits I really know nothing but there must be some! I prefer if a grown person who can judge for themselves can take it and tell me than that it be over prescribed to little ones the way it was... lots of teens here with 10yo ritalin habits.

I was awake at 5am with the birds this morning.. so exciting!

Mr Tips, we always find a tree that is 'in the way' so to speak like this one - in a carpark out of the tarmac so would be cut down anyways - and appropriate it. The selection starts some months ahead.

Each year we make a few ornaments and the tree seems to get bigger. Thus we collect memories of our life.. we have seashells from when we lived by the sea.. we still have the wee felt hearts i made the first year when my eldest was just a babe. This year they made me throw out all my ratty tinsel (had some of it since i was a kid) because it was 'smelly'. I says, outraged "but it smells of my childhood and christmasses past!!" :H This is the first year we bought baubles to go on it. We are not religious as such, having christian, buddhist, jew & athiest all in the family plus some muslim friends, however I think tree worship extremely appropriate somehow.. all good things come from nature... and the kids all get into it

Anyway, have a great day ahead everyone!

THE NEXT DAY THREAD - DECEMBER

            Morning all!
            Hi Mame!
Have a magic day Fick's! I found it all a bit odd starting a new job/people/environment/culture, as Start's say's, but you gotta go with the flow, and ride it out. I'm sure they're good folk's, and are welcoming and appreciative, to such a talented, grand addition to the team. Let us know how it went!

Thank's for all the Christmas pressie idea's. I went the Oxfam angle last year. Was funny to see the look on their faces after the usual 50 bucks in a card from the mysterious, gypsy, m'bike riding with a whiff of unreliability about him Uncle G. But that (oxfam etc.) angle doesn't bother me. They can have their playstations/Wii etc, but my mission/responsibility among all this, is to nudge them into thinking outside the square, and to the bigger picture. They will come to understand the meaning of 'Wax on, wax off', no matter what!

Take it easy Pan. You know people here love you!

Have a safe, sober, and maaaagical day folk's!

'I am part of all that I have met, yet all experience is an arch wherethro', gleams that untravelled world whose margins fade, forever and forever when I move'

              !
I bet they think "We liked Uncle G more when he was drunk all the time, he gave us better presents" :H:H But you are right in that they may not fully 'get' the real gift of understanding & compassion that you are teaching them - this truely is a gift that will last a lifetime.
Ficks - got your clothes all ironed & packed a lunch?? Have a wonderful day - I'll think of you when I'm at my new job today. I'm telling you, that bit of extra money has come just in time for Chrissy. I'm not big on spoiling the kids with presents either - but it still adds up.
Pan - Have you been to see social security yet?? How are you feeling today?? How about getting a plan into action for another30days?? You've done it before - you know it clears your head & you know you CAN do it.

Gotta go get ready for the day.

THE NEXT DAY THREAD - DECEMBER

                Afternoon, Happy Clappers,

Can't wait to hear how Fick's first day at new job went. Betts, Mr. G, Angel and now Fickle all have new jobs. Bloody brilliant. Bridge is doing more courses, Mame is in triathlon training mode, Ronnie's coaching T-ball, Aspy and Reggie are racking up the AF days - dog, we're a vibrant bunch.

How are you doing today, Pan?

We haven't heard from Rags for yonks. Surely she's back from Sri Lanka by now ...

Waving to Wavey who should be coming home soon for a nanna nap which is what I'm about to do. Started at 7 this morning and I've had enough. OH - excitement for the day: I bought a NEW SPADE!!!!

                Catch you slaters.

THE NEXT DAY THREAD - DECEMBER

ok .... I've had enough excitement for the day to answer everything but just wat to say:

Mr G: my oldest brother (Number 1 brother and older than me by 18 years) bought me a ukulele when I was 5; and "Animal Farm" when I was 13. They are still touchstones!

Hope everyone wth their new lives is going great guns!!!!! TF - can you bring your spade around to my garden please!!!!!

I'm not doing so well with the triathlon training, but managing the family stuff okay. One thing at a time is good at the moment.

Fickle - the tree is great ..... hopefully we might have a similar one at our house next week!!!!!

My Number 3 brother (from Atlanta) said goodbye to my Number 2 brother today with a hand shake and " great to see you mate; will be nice to catch up with you next time". I sort of feel WTF, but I also think it how blokes in NZ and Oz relate. It just seems really sad ...... there isn't going to be a next time. But they spent a lot of time today watching re-runs of "Dad's Army" Maybe that was their good bye time.

                  Dinner preparation calls ........

I'd LOVE an 'uncle' like that.

THE NEXT DAY THREAD - DECEMBER

                      Oh Dear.

I had another one of my 'It can only happen to Bridget' days today.
Woke up in usual chirpy mood....with a bit of extra chirp, which I attribute to my new herbal mother's helpers.
Waiting for a tradie to turn up to fix water system which blew a fu-fu valve.
                      Sudden thoughts of drinking......2pm....
Nope, thinks Bridge, not gunna happen .......
                      race to medicine cabinet......
reef open capsule of L- Glutamine......
                      Poor powder under tongue...
Doorbell rings at this precise point on time/ space continuum....
Arrive at door with mouth full and idiotic smile .....
Tradesman spends 1.5 hours staring furtively and smiling a tad nervously
Arrive at school for pick up and look in rear view mirror.......
Only to see trail of fine white powder stuck to under nose and chin regions.
Didn't know you could 'take' L- Glut like THAT...did ya folks ?

Hey all. Don't have much to say, so just hi. Glad everyone seems happy. Angel, I will reply. Time restraints on internet as you know. I could get cut off any minute. Time for doggies dinner I believe. Or if I believe them as to the time. How do they know it's that EXACT (and I'm talking on the big hand) time every single day.

Hey Pay, everyone, I'm Zorsted! So many new people and so many new things to learn!
Is it like that for you Angel? G? Seems complicated but doable... am sure tomorrow will be less bewildering now I know what to expect.
                                Bridge :H:H:H:H:H
Had a tradesman moment myself this morning... I was standing there in my undies in the kitchen thinking about my new job & what to wear etc, having done my hair before figuring what to wear.. etc.. and there's a knock at the door! I look up to see the plumber I'd booked for 7.30am through the window looking 'the other way' politely while he waited. I shouted "oooooh the plumber!" to my son and bolted down the hallway. I returned respectably attired in seconds and we both acted as though nothing untoward had occurred of course. I said casually, "somehow between 6 and 7 it slipped my mind that you were coming"
A new spade Tawns.. now THAT's what I want for Christmas! And a nice big fella to dig my garden with it of course
