THE NEXT DAY THREAD - DECEMBER

Nah- Frog doesn't let me on the roof anymore- she thinks I am 'clumsy and make too much noise'
    Hurumph.
I am off for a bit too. Hartley- be who you are- whatever that is. I see you are in Lala land- if I am interpreting correctly, I live there too. (although my IQ remains unchanged for better or worse..)
    Be well pals

Two words for you... Craig Ferguson. Have you ever listened to him talk about his alcoholism? Maybe it's because I'm so pro anything Scottish, but he really makes sense to me and gives me a less gloomy perspective on the whole ordeal. (You know how us Scots like to make light of things?) Maybe that'll help you too. Me... when it gets to be too "tragic" I kind of shut down. Just guessing you may be of the same ilk.

(By way of explanashun to the Underoos... Ferguson is slated to take over Letterman's slot when he retires - he's a Scottish night time talk show host on 'Murrican TV.)

In any event, there is loads of advice and good people on this chat board. Keep checking in over New Years. (It's a tough one for us lot - New Years is the "big holiday" in Scotland...) :-)

I've decided I may stay in tomorrow night. I don't know that I could handle going out... recipe for disaster methinks...

Anyhoo.... nice to have met you Hartley. And sorry for rambling. Must be this laptop - I'm usually at a desktop.
I've met him on a couple of occasions. I posted this on a thread here a couple of weeks back. Powerful stuff and if I did envy at all, I'd envy him his convictions.

Guess what I scored at the supermarket?

FRENCH sparkling grape juice (muscat). I bought 4 bottles and has taken care of any residual feelings of deprivation for tonight anyway!!!

You are indeed correct. The town of Sodom and Gomorrah is where I lay my hat.

Mr 11 (who fancies himself as an up and coming music entrepreneur!) has put together a programme of 6 hours of music DVDs to last from now until midnight. The living room has been re-organised, there are bowls of chips and lollies and popcorn out at strategic intervals ......... and I am being called.

                        See you in 2010!

Gotta keep this here before you disappear it, Reggie. I agree. Lube the joints. But you really ought to get out into the sun a bit more often ... you look like a Pom.

What was it that inspired the 'Fuck you' attitude all those years ago ?
Aren't you at LEAST as pissed off with alcohol ?
Think of all the stuff you've screwed up or missed out on. Make a list. Check it twice. There's HEAPS of stuff. Do it when you wake up feeling like a piece of shit this morning and it will 'resonate' even more.
Keep checking in, won't ya ?
                                Bridge
I had to come back to this post Bridge, seeing as what it was your in-yer-face attitude that dragged me happily into this thread in the first place.

What inspired the "fuck you" years ago was a fear of failing to deliver. What has always driven my insane mind is a need to ride close to the edge. As the years have gone by, the rush I get from pressure has lessened, much in the same way that the effect of drugs and alcohol lessen. You need more to achieve the same, except its not the same because you never capture that feeling of "If I Ruled the World" omnipotence that your memory insists you once had.

So in terms of my insanity, I always need to get closer to pulling the house down to motivate me. I sit there and surround myself with hugely pressurized work scenarios and respond with total apathy until the very last possible moment. The horrible thing is that I understand exactly what I'm doing. And my natural reaction is to go "what a tit...get on with it." And yet I cant seem to do that any more and it leads to a boring cycle that ends in a lake of alcohol and remorse.

Woeful shit, tbh. Sorry to pollute a hilarious thread and I promise not to verbally vomit in here again.
