Friends, seeing that little green light is such a light in the darkness. It shows you that a friend that you particularly want to see is there. It shows that there is someone actually online. To be needing to talk and not see a green light is a real letdown, even tho there may be someone there. I won't turn my light off. Someone, somewhere may need that light from someone. To be honest, I have turned mine off in the past and that is just hiding away.

Mr G the only one with a green light on at the moment - on this thread anyway.

We had a lovely day today ....... weather not so good and the last thing I felt like was Boxing Day sales, so we spent the day inside playing music. Mr B's son is aged 11 and just starting to really get into music. So we had turns playing various tracks with the idea that we would start at the 1940s and end up post-2000 ...... but each track had to have a musical linkage to the one before it. We went all over the place and with some dead ends and false starts ...... but lots of fun on the way. Spent tonight watching "The Last Waltz" with speakers at full volume as all the neighbours are away!!!!!

My new years resolutions:

• No alcohol
• See as much of my brother as I canWear sunscreenMoisturise every night.

That's it. One really important one that is in my control, and one that isn't. The other two are much more manageable!!!!

Merry christmas Pan. No more drinky poo's for you. Isolating yourself, and drinking alone, is a guaranteed downward spiral, and a very quick one. I know this road very, very well. You must shake yourself out of this mind space, and stop it. This is a deadly path you are on, so please put a stop to it.
Sounds like you need to work out a clear direction for yourself, right now, non?

First step- Give away the grog.
Second step- Work out where you want to, and/or need to go, and what you need to do to start this process. If you need help to do any of this, ask for it. It is out there. We can help you find 'who/what/where' if need be too.

I've discovered I am total crap at 4 wheeled dirt-bike racing on x-box.

Sorry if I was paranoid earlier.. got a lecture from someone about how I should be hiding my ip address.. that was wierd how that dude could trace my computer from my using chat.

I never use facebook because a place where I worked, the first thing they'd do before hiring anyone was check out their facebook page.. and that dumb stuff where people chuck a sickkie & post a pic of themself passed out drunk or on the beach or summat, then everyone at work sees it, really happens. I only use it to check up on my nieces & nephews & look at photos of their sweet lives.

I actually love that you peeps can see I'm online and give me a poke.. I never would have joined this thread if not for the mighty G'ster popping into my music thread to tell me to join! What a change you guys have made to my life. I was telling Starty last night that I've got a moon planting guide (circular calendar showing phases of moon) on the wall and I mark my af days with highlighter. Am happy to report lots more highlighter this year. Am hoping for more again next year. That is my main goal for 2010.. the other things involve getting a social life, being regularly on my treadmill in the am, enjoying work & seeing some live music. The last live gig I was at was a Jeff Buckley concert (Sigh!).

Pan, yup.. follow Mr G's advice.. talk to us. We are all here to help however we can. My main piece of advice is that Christmas is a tough time for lots of us so please BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF!

Same goes for you Reggie. Christmas does my head in. I am sitting there while someone is telling me something tedious and I think 'I'm really to tired to care and wish I was somewhere else' but think 'it's christmas' so I drink and laugh at their jokes and nod and be agreeable and a good time is had by all. I'm the one waking up with the ugly mug in the morning tho. Yick.

Congratulations all for surviving another christmas and now lets all be kind to ourselves in the leadup to the new year.. let's be making positive plans involving pleasurable things and stop the self flaggelation.

I think I've realised one important thing. I no longer associate drinking with pleasure. THAT IS A HUGE THING!!! For the past 5 years I've thought of giving up drinking as giving up my only comfort/pleasure. At last that is no longer the case. All the pleasurable feelings I crave now are related to AFdom. Everything to do with drinking is unpleasant.

....and all power to you Aspy. 60 days including Christmas is a real effort.
Has anyone seen Angel around? Might have gone away for Chrissie.
Does anyone else find the days sandwiched between Xmas and New Year a bit of a bore ?
It seems to me that apart from going out and being a consumer, there's not much else to do. Must get hold of a good uplifting book I think.
Suggestions ?
