blessings
I wanted to start this thread because I think so many of us, myself included, tend to focus on what is wrong in our lives instead of focussing on our blessings. For myself, I know that when I can't get something as simple as a file drawer to open in at work, I wonder "why is my life so hard" when others deal with things that are truly life altering. On this thread I thought it would be nice if we each just posted a blessing we have in our life everyday. It can be trivial, such as getting all green lights when we are in a hurry to get somewhere or as major as getting good results from a hospital test. Very early this morning, when it was still dark, I was taking my trash can to the sidewalk and noticed a beautiful full moon shining down over the Delaware River with the Wilmington skyline in the background. I just stopped and admired the moon's reflection in the calm of the river and thought this is a blessing to have witnessed this at this early hour of the morning when everything was so quiet and peaceful. Each day in our lives we have such small blessings if we only pay attention to them. I would love to hear of others.Tags: None

blessings
I saw a sign the other day that said "Count your blessings, not your money." I'm blessed for more things than I can mention, but at this moment because I'm warm, full, fairly comfortable, and my family is safe.sigpic

blessings
This is an awesome thread idea! Today has been a good day for me recognizing blessings, unlike yesterday where I felt a bit pissy and was rather 'blocked' from seeing them. (yepper - this thread is an EXCELLENT idea for me...)
I am not Catholic and know little about it. My AA sponsor is a nun, so she knows a LOT about it. My sponsee in AA was raised Catholic, and is exploring her roots in that regard. So sponsee sends questions through me, the messenger, to Sister. Then Sister sends messages back through me, the messenger, to sponsee. I always hope I get it right since much of the "message" I am clueless about. Sort of like carrying a message in a foreign language that I don't speak.
Anyway, some messages and a rosary were sent back and forth recently. Apparently the rosary thing was of VERY high significance. Sponsee had back surgery today and when her sister called me to say all went OK, she was literally in tears (of joy) over this rosary business.
That just made me smile and feel grateful that something that is obviously meaningful was "passing through" even though I failed to understand it at the time. And still don't understand it other than to realize it was something significant.
Makes me wonder how many other blessings are going on each day right under my nose that I fail to see. I think I will try to keep my eyes open a little wider tomorrow!

blessings
Not 10 minutes after I started this thread, I received another blessing. A wonderful high energy dog that had been adopted and returned 3 times from the shelter I volunteer at had recently been adopted again. The family that adopted him sent a wonderful e-mail stating that he did have energy but had reached his forever home. They understand his energy and are willing to work with him to curb it in a constructive manner. That this loving, energetic dog has found a family willing to understand and work with him is another blessing. You needn't look far to find the blessings. As you say Doggygirl many are right under our noses.

Ruby, Doggygirl, Reenie, and Starlight, thank you so much for posting. I think focussing on the positive is so beneficial and that is what we should do here. I can't wait to hear from more of people who experience everyday blessings in thier lives. I look forward to hearing from everyone about the small blessings they encounter everyday.

I love this thread, even though I am not religious. May we all remember the blessings we have instead of focus on the bad. How nice that the doggy found a good home - a blessing indeed for all.
My thought:
I feel blessed that yesterday, for the first time I can remember, I did not want a drink. Now y'all know I'm not perfect, but this was a milestone.
Many blessing to all of you!Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.

I am discovering that there is a huge difference between being "religious" and being "spiritual."
I love this thread.
I am blessed. I can't even start to talk about it. 6 grandchildren. 2 children. A husband who tries to be better and prays I get better.
Parents who are still alive and kicking. Both 85. We talked until 9:00 last night when we all passed out. :H
Blessings abound.

This morning I was blessed with my husband's unemployment money coming literally just in the nick of time. I am blessed every day by coming here to enjoy the fellowship of all of you.Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
