Jenn, thank you for the gratefulness.org link. I will start visiting it daily. Today I am grateful that I arrived safely into work and safely home. It was not a good day for driving. It appears our forecast will be improving over the next week and for that I am also grateful.

I am very discouraged today because of issues at work......not getting paid for example( we all think our boss is going under but won't tell us)....and the fact that I keep slipping in my battle with AL.....
But I found this thread and it has made me feel better........
I am thankful for my wonderful husband, my two beautiful sons, two silly cats and a roof over my head and wonderful parents that try to help.
The last year has been very hard for my family. My husband's very succesful business failed, we had to file bankruptcy, our house is in foreclosure and hubby is looking for work. We have had to change our lifestyle drastically and I have been a wreck and have turned to the bottle.
BUT...we are still married, still love each other and I actually think our kids have learned some good life lessons.....we try to practice An Attitude of Gratitude in our home, but I tend to forget that.
Thank you for reminding me and for listening. Oh...am I SOOOOOOOOO grateful I found this site!!I love my family more than alcohol.:h

Mamabear, with all you are going through, the fact that you are able to still feel gratitude is something to feel grateful for. That shows a sense of strength in you. IMHO, I believe as drinkers we become overwhelmed by everyday situations and we allow that to get us down. If we really put our focus on all the good in all lives I think it helps in our recovery because we don't see ourselves as victims.

This thread is so good
When I first started posting here in January my signature was an "Attitude of Gratitude". For some reason I took that off but maybe should be it back on there.
I am grateful today for lots of things in my life and when I think about them it makes me smile and feel comfy inside. Most important are the people in my life and now also my new family here.
Early this morning I looked out of the window and everything looked fresh, green bright and sunny. (I am sober). On the grass were two bunnies. They just looked so cute. I thought that not too many people would have that to look at this morning or any morning. I know they are a pest in some parts but here they are alright. I am looking forward to today. I wonder what other things I might see and be grateful for with my new changing af free attitude!!Developing an Attitude of Gratitude

I feel blessed because I have the most wonderful two daughters and two adorable grandchildren that I look after every Saturday morning and tomorrow it will be with a clear head and the noise will be of laughter :hLearn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

It is good to count the blessings and give them conscious thought. I am amazed at how Chill managed to turn all the negative consequences of alc into blessings!is it not a true blessing that drinking large quantities provided us with such horrendous hangovers?!
The days spend with internal pain, burning sensations, headaches, nausea, acidity, bloating not to mention all the cuts and bruises....... were they not blessings to help us see how wonderful AF life could be.............Dill
Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

I woke up this morning, not coming to. I'm making pulled pork in the crock pot for the first time. Me being out of bed before six & making a new recipe. Wow... This recipe is going to take some time. Good, I need to work on patience. Not one of my greatest virtues. Yup, I can't control this one a whole lot.
I also was able to say goodbye to our daughter this morning as she headed out to work. This is her last night home. We are helping her move tom. I'm grateful to be sober & that I'm able to help her. Mixed emotions. Hey, at least I can feel them.
I also listened to the sweet songs of the birdies this morning with a cup of warm java. These are all blessings today, because of sobriety.

Wow, Trish, sounds wonderful. Especially helping daughter move out, while sober. Although it must be extremely hard for you to see her leave home. Must admit today in Jersey it is so cold and bleak the pulled pork sounds wonderful. Today I am grateful because two of my neighborhood boys came over to help me get my garage in order. It is so pleasant spending time with them and listening to their adventures.
