Where are all the professional women?

      "Priceless"...

If I'm not mistaken... the distinction, between "hobby & profession"... is when you make an "income".

I knew I should have charged more for that art work in Costa Rica, ...:H
And that jewelry in Tahiti... could have made soo much more $$$. Silly me! How un professional!:upset:

I loved what Jenneh said too, and I would like to hire her as well. You too Allie, for just whatever.

See Em, it's all about the love. Doesn't matter what we do, frankly I don't even like what I do truth be told. But that's a whole other story.

Where are all the professional women?

            Hey there!

I am a nurse (guess that is professional) but do agree that it is not a disease or obsession of intellect, or we would all be rocket scientists or something!! I have only been around for about 3 months, had ups and downs like many of us (ok, well maybe just some of us ) , but I love this place, only have time to read some days due to my busy schedule.............I too am a working mom of 2 w/ 2 horses to boot!! that all (along w/ working out as much as I can) keeps me busy, so some days I don't even get on to read!

Where are all the professional women?

              Hey Em-

I rarely, rarely EVER post, but always read them, because I find so many of what people write awe-inspiring, and I am a PH.D. However, when I come here, I am just a woman with an alcohol problem, like everyone else. I do find that I like the fact that there are so many here that are bright, introspective, and compassionate. These are the commonalities that are most helpful to me. How everone makes a living, while interesting, hasn't been important to me, at least in my quest to get sober. I don't know about others, but when I read your post, it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I am sure you didn't mean it that way....

Anyway, I don't think we have had the opportunity to meet yet, but I do make myself known on chat...usually a little bit in the evenings. I hope we get the chance to know one another.

Where are all the professional women?

Yes I guess the more I am reading the more irked I am getting. I shouldn't be making excuses for anyone that is ridiculous. What exactly isn't floating your boat lately? What isn't awe inspiring? I agree with Gina and Allie, perhaps you should start your own thought provoking thread or section.

Where are all the professional women?

Nearly everything I have ever read on this board has been thought provoking in some way, shape or form.

I thank you all for sharing with me your beautiful hearts, souls and minds.

Where are all the professional women?

I agree...............It is so much more than what we "do".
I have ventured out into the professional world a few times in my life. It's hostile out there!!! Ouch!

I've done volunteer work throught the schools, church, hospital, daycare, Red Cross and raised three college educated fine adult children. I never had to get them out of jail, the abortion clinic or wonder what time they would come home at night. They knew what was expected of them and that someone would be there to check on them. I've worn many of the "hats" that you all mention.
I was there to spend every Friday as my mom aged ,cleaning for her and then out to lunch.
I was there everytime one of my kids hit a ball, cheered a cheer, or just threw up and needed to come home.
You can lable me "un-professional" if you want to but I've had a darn good life and I wouldn't swap it for any paycheck!

I guess this turned into a rant. Sorry guys....
I enjoy talking to anyone here who is open enough to share.
                    You guys make my day!

Where are all the professional women?

I know damn well it's not a disease of intellect and believe me I'm no intellectual snob or I WOULDN'T be teaching highschool. Sorreee I offended a few of you. I am obsessed as the next person. I've had a hell of a Sept. probably crying my way through most of it. I was being honest. Many times when I come on here I leave feeling disappointed - O.K.??? I'm not talking about the people who share their honest feelings and personal stories. No, I haven't been to chat yet. Something to check out. And Gina, I'm not going to start some intellectual thread because that's not what I'm after. Guess I was looking for something a little less silly and how we're getting on in the world of work when emotional lives are falling apart. That's all. So I didn't say it to well. I said it pretty poorly, to be honest. Em

Where are all the professional women?

Em, I could have sworn I sent you a private message a couple of weeks ago about the beginning of school. I just went to look at my messages, and it's not there, so I guess that explains why I didn't hear from you. Anyway, it was just a howarya, but I'm sorry you are not so good. Let's talk.

Where has all that gone to? Lately, there's nothing to hold my interest atol and I leave feeling totally unstimulated. Some of the threads are just so much drivel. There's room for everyone, of course, but I notice a marked absence of what drew me here in the first place. Things seem to be going down hill and I'm concerned. Em
                          Em,

I'm not calling you a snob of any sort. Your post was harsh and maybe you were having a harsh day. Forgiven!:l

I've read your posts and you have been a supportive and giving member of this community:thanks:

We all have bad days. It's a lot harder to take back what we put in writing and that's why this board makes us even more vulnerable in some ways.

By the way.....I have daughter going into 9th grade next year. Thank you for being a teacher!

Em.........having a son in Iraq is the hardest thing I've ever done........Being a high school teacher has to be stressful also.
My heart hurts just thinking about what you are going through.
I'm fairly new to chat too. Would love to see you there!

Why do I always feel so bad for the person that gets munched on.
I see both sides of this and I sure saw it coming right from the begining.
I think you didnt mean to say this the way it came across Em.
Sorry your feelings are hurt now. And I dont blame everyone else for takin offence.
