I don't Starty - I have always made it a personal rule not to let guys buy me stuff or go out with them unless I am really interested. Saves a lot of hassle.

You are probably just out of your comfort zone, its always nervewracking spending time with someone new initially, perhaps just give yourself a bit more time to get to know him?
He was likely to be just as nervous
