Hurrah I fixed the boiler, happy KTAB earns brownie points from DW in nice warm house. Now I just need to get down to the village for more supplies and I will be deemed a great bloke indeed
I have just seen on the news that it hit -12 last night, now that is proper cold me thinks.

He cant go as a lot of flights are canceled or badly delayed, anyway he wouldnt like it there, too hot. Did you get my emails Tip?

I will thanks. Have a feeling it will be driving down then not being able to get all the way back uphill. So prob end up leaving the car en-route and walking back. Beats sitting here all day getting bored I suppose.

Oops - not logged on. Let me check quickly.

I also have a recipe for choc brownie kinda thingies - can be made in a jiffy, and fairly cheap too. Don't go the village before I've sent it to you

Nope. No emails yet, KT. I've checked my PM to you: it is the correct address.

Here is the recipe in the meantime. Dead easy.

For the base (MELT, do not allow to boil):

250g margarine or butter
2T condensed milk
2T castor sugar
2T cocoa
2T syrup

1t vanilla

Crush two packets Marie biscuits (dunno if you'll know what it is) or Tennis biscuits (you should know that) - else I can describe and you can get an equivalent.

Mix together and spread on greased baking tray.

For the icing (again: melt, don't boil)

4T margarine or butter
4T condensed milk
2T cocoa
12T icing sugar

Spread over biscuit mixture. Refrigerate and cut into blocks.

Alternatives: add a small packet of flaked almonds to the icing, or sprinkle it on top of the icing before it sets.

Mix unsalted nuts into the biscuit mixture, or chopped candied cherries...
