No, JC, a legal aid lawyer here helps the poor. A public defender represents the indicted who can't afford a lawyer.

actually, no. A public defender is a defense attorney. A prosecutor prosecutes the indictided.

A public defender works for the government. A legal aid lawyer might be in private practice and attorneys are often required and appointed to perform pro bono work.
