I can not even tell you how happy I am that you have been able to make such great strides. You are an inspiration and a reminder that no matter what is in our past it is today and tomorrow that really matter. It may not be easy but it is worth all the hard work. One Year Sober for Hippie!
I had a day like any other today where I attended the parenting course I'm on with the NSPCC then traveled up to the hospital to see my mum. She's had a bit of a set back but this is normal in about 20 -30% of patients who have undergone heart surgery. She's going to be in hospital for a little bit longer, but it's good this happened whilst she was already in there. Phil the Catastrophiser would of had her dead and buried this time last year!. I told her it was my birthday today and she looked at me in bewilderment saying it's not till the 30th January. When I told her it was my first anniversary in sobriety she forced herself up out the chair and gave me a kiss and a hug and told me how proud she was of me. Brought a few tears to my eyes I can tell you. Then to come home and read these comments here has completely overwhelmed me. I am humbled that I have touched so many peoples lives here.

When I first came on the forum a year ago you seemed to me to be an "older man", lost and struggling. As time went on you were transformed. I was stunned to learn (seeing your picture) that you were actually a young man, chronologically. On this forum I have watched you grow younger in spirit and yet more mature and wise right before my eyes!Dill
