Thanks Jackie. I found him in the spring of 2000. Vet told me that fall that he was about 2 so my dogger is getting on in years - close to being a teenager in our years but an oldie but goodie in doggie years. He's a griffon-poodle cross. Just a mutt but we love him to death....

          Mutts are good.

Like our 4 ginger cats - they usually have very quirky personalities

I'm just going to finish dinner - be back in a bit.

Literally translated as: I don't want to go not.
Personally, I've never figured out the double "a" as in "gaan"...
How is it pronounced? The letter "a" in Greek is always pronounced like the first "a" in always, whereas in English you can pronounce it two ways, "father" and "hate"...??

Tips, he is the sweetest, most friendly dog you could imagine. People who don't know me stop us on the street so they can pet him. Only thing, he still hasn't recovered from being abandoned and altho' we've had him for almost ten years, he still goes nuts when he's been left alone for any length of time and cries and carries on like crazy when we get back. You'd think we'd been gone a year!!!

When using a diminutive / term of endearment in English, when do you use a "y" and when do you use an "ie"

                    E.g. Grimmie / Grimmy

                    Auntie / Aunty
Tips, I got curious about this when I was Aunty Mame and I noticed people calling me AuntieMame. I couldn't find a convincing explanation, but I thought that it was mostly the ex-(English) colonies that spelled it with a "y" and North Americans people that did the "ie" thing.

Finding it hard to get out the door to work this morning. Cat has planted himself in my lap and doesn't appear to want to move! :H

Hi, MissB. You may very well have a point there. Whenever I addressed one of my aunts (which they pronounce "ah-nts" in parts of the US from what I understand, we in Canada mostly pronounce it "ants" - but when I addressed a favorite aunt, I always used the "auntie" form with the "ie" ending... just a thought........Stirly

                          Shouldn't that be Stirlie??? :H :H :H

Your explanation makes a lot of sense, Miss B - my own preference is to use the "y", being from an ex colony myself.
