      Hiya Zeppie and nighty night those that are going beddy byres! We've go house guests who are staying at my daughter's townhouse, so my grandaughter and daughter are staying with us.

        As you can all see, my typing is deteriorating....I'm sure something has got stuck under some of the keys...probably P eating a sarmie while looking at the Sanparks website.....she loves to see what game is at the waterholes!

          ok ....... someone in my office has a PhD in linguistics and she informs me that the use of "ie" or "y" (or "o" or "a") is common in most languages, particularly English, German and French. Has nothing to do with whether we come from the colonies or not!

          so it can be brekkie or brekky
          starty or startie
          tippie or tippy
          zeppie or zeppy

          etc etc

          ok got to go and do some real work!!

            hiya MB,
            well as I had always been taught in English grammer during my scholasic years, the ie replaces the y, unless in certain circumstances the ey is used.....,
            it is to signify the plural of a proper noun or name.
            American english has it own changes..!
            and the change of o & a in latin based languages is to signify gender..male or female

                so is Tip a saffa or a saffo?

                Also LJ ... have been meaning to say that a very good friend of mine had a baby last week that they have named Ollie! He is beautiful and with more hair than I've even seen on a baby - just about needs a hair cut!!
