Hello,
I know I am totally off topic here. I am having some personal problems and have several times gone to chat and had this person contact me on the side. Last night , It is 6:30 am here, about an hour ago had this person who said they were from India again contact me.......it gives me the shivers, he kept wanting to go off the forum and contact me , I have never seen his posts here he tried to get me to go to face book, I did not give out enough personal information that he could find me , but he is good at conning you in, maybe I am wrong, but he directed me finally to this face book page with this name. Dilip Talavnekar,he scares me, am I wrong to be scared? Don't know who else to ask. I did not give him my face book page, he wanted my Yahoo ID, and name , etc. I am worried maybe someone is trying to find info here. Tell me I am maybe wrong?

Don't panic. Simply, do not give any personal details out over the internet, or here. I know of a chat person called Dilip. He used to alway's p.m. me and ask me to go to chat, but i never did as it happened, not cause i was worried. I'm sure he's harmless. Just keep your personal info to yourself, relax, and you can't go wrong.

Oh, as I said , every time I've gone to chat in the last week or so he has contacted me on the side chat. I am going through some marital problems and some alcohol, so far, thank God, not the the extremes i have in the past, but my heart is breaking. He just scared me with wanting to know too much info about me and always seems to dominate everytime I try chat. As I said , he just wanted too much personal info. He may be totally harmless but his facebook page is just a pic of him and nothing else. I am sure I talked about more than I should have, but never gave away my name, was skeptical the whole time

I go with Mr. G's advice. If you are uncomfortable then don't respond to this guy. 99% he's harmless but you're right to ask advice.

Have you got a "rubbish" e-mail address? I have a hotmail account that I use if I register to websites. Then I don't have to worry about using my "real" e-mail address getting bombarded with junk. My hotmail is in my maiden name. This advice actually came from a meeting at my son's school which addressed internet safety.

If you need to have a chat, feel free to PM me. The guys here are also pretty cool and level headed. I can also recommend Lavande, the lady who looks after us in the Newbies Nest. She's full of Wisdom. There's also some great people on the Army Thread.

Thank you so much for responding. I never did in the past either. He just kind of latched on to me, the only one there on chat. I was interested in his culture, etc. Just anything but think of my situation here. but I do not think after a few chat responses he is who he says he is and he constantly was going for private info, names, ID's, etc. I ended up being afraid, although I did not give him any names he was searching for. I just felt he was somone looking for something here, other than what I hope we are all here for.
I guess I was trying to warn others although probably most of you are more aware than I am of the internet weirdos.
Thank you for responding, I feel a little better now. Where do we go for just a friend when we need to maybe 'talk' for a few minutes?
