I don't know love. But I'm going to give that some thought.
I suppose Dorothea MacKellar prose doesn't do it for you ?

I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror- the wide brown land for me!

              Reggie,

Are you up the QLD coast? Depsite living here for 5 years, I didn't know what a stinger suit was until Jan this year.

We went to Magnetic Island and thought all these people looked like complete TWATS and then we learned why they were wearing them....

We did wear them for the horse-ride swim. Whilst my slim, blonde son looked cute, my very overweight husband and my overweight self looked like...well I don't know. I got a photo of GCH but would not let anyone get a photo of me.

So who wears stinger suits? Locals or tourists?

We have great fun travelling around Australia. People ask where we come from and we say Brisbane. And then they look confused as we have pommie accents.

                Another confession coming up...

We didn't get into The Wiggles until late. I took my son twice but he was the oldest there and he was only 6.

I have now taken to borrowing friends toddlers and taking them to the concerts so I can lust after Murray.

"Hands in the Air, Rock-a-bye your bear. Bear's gone to sleep. Shh, shh, shh."

Personally, my fave is "Uncle Noah's Ark."

But I was thinking more about the atrocities that have been done to the Indigenous folk...as Aussies we're all so easy going but the bad stuff that happened in early colonisation isn't talked about. Maybe I'm projecting about my own stuff though...maybe it's just me. I've just started reading Danny Dunn (Courtney)...he touches on it.
Anyway, the jasmine is v.fragrant tonight...lubberly.

I feel uncomfortable with it as well love. Would like to think of myself as compassionate and accomodating . However,I have the uncomfortable reality of knowing that my direct relatives colonised this country, and in fact were one of the first Governing families. I struggle with that a lot.
                      God it's hot here.

                        Good conversation.

I had a bit of a problem when I got here thinking about taking advantage of the things our ancestors had started. But if I and Ronnie stayed away, would that change anything?

I have read about the stolen generations. I have also read a book about children from broken and poor homes in the UK who were being transported until 1974!! Can you believe that? To top that, the house they were held in prior to being sent was in the village I lived in 10 years prior to moving here. The village has so much history but it is never mentioned that Court Lodge was a children's home and holding point. These children were taken from their parents and promised a better life. The parents were supposed to join them but were prevented from doing so.

Aussie / English history can be hard to read and believe.

                          Morning all,
Don't get me started on Oz history! Except to say, Bridge, you are not too blame, so long as you are not perpetuating the crap. My indigenous friend's do not blame me for our past. What i can do, is be pro-active in my understanding, learning, and communication of past, and sadly still current issues, with friend's and family, and people i meet. Some of which are grossly mis-informed and prejudiced re our history here.

In other new's, the young man is off to save Universe again, on what should be a day off! Of course, dark forces wait for no man......sigh, 'tis hard being me......
