My Taz has sores on her back, her rump..
not spots and the skin isn't red but she has sores that she keeps scratching against walls or things hard, and she scratches at them with her teeth.

it's very expensive here just for the visit to the vet, I know there is no price on our animals health but do you reckon if I put betadine, which is iodine that would help..???
I used to use it on my horses when they had sores

Is Taz doing bum shuffling too?
It could be worse, I could be filing.

You could try betadine or maybe some tea tree oil or colodial silver, is the hair falling out?

Dogs can get hotspots which can affect hairier dogs if they haven't dried off properly after a swim . Tea tree oil will prob fix that.

Hi LJ, yes Zeppie, I also immediately thought of hotspots..I have known some dogs that get them..but they can get quite weepy with pus and blood where the dog contiually licks or nibbles at it.

I'm no dog expert..Zeps has all the knowledge and experience...so I don't know if a cortisone cream would help as it does on a human eczema?

no she's not doing the bum shuffle thing, but she rubs her back up & down on the back of the sofa or the wall, she is a bit long haired, but she doesn't go right into the sea only her legs up to her tummy,

she had a bath and a good brush at the dog groomers the other week but she still has it..
gonna put some betadine on her now see if she doen't lick it off..!!!

she is a bugger for licking creams off...!!

had another one called panolog really expensive..but she loves to lick it off..!!!

You are right Birdie - I have never had a dog with a hotspot but I know a heap of people who's dogs get them. Try a cortisone cream if you have one Jan.

Stick the cream on her right before you go for a walk with her, that way she will be preoccupied
