    Sugar-Free Lent

OK then I'll have stevia too. I really do need it in some of my hot teas. m3, I've not seen the lemon. I've had the liquid chocolate raspberry (which is hard for me to find) and the vanilla cream and plain.

I think ready2change said Bragg's had a lot of info on apple cider vinegar on their website.

        Sugar-Free Lent

Yes 2 more weeks! I am having a GLORIOUS time!! I found 7 letterboxes today - two on a lovely wooded trail to the sound, one at the Wright Brother's Memorial. I had a great lunch where I sat at the counter and had a lovely chat with the man next to me and the counter waitress (bartender I guess).

              Very nice!

We usually stay in Corolla of Duck. Can't wait for the warm weather to come. I am so sick of snow.

I'm joining in here as well. I am not going to be as gung-ho as some of you. I am saying I'm giving up sweets, not all sugar. No cookies, cake nor ice cream.

Gotta get this back on the front page.

Day 4 here (sugar free that is).

Sugar is a quick fix like alcohol used to be for me.

Ordered some more liquid stevia. Yum.

                    ordered? link please?

I went to dinner last night for a fried oysters at a recommended place (I'm a bit of a foodie and research where I'm going to eat). Eh... I should have listened to my instincts when I saw it was a REAL big seafood place on the sound. I wanted to go last night because I knew they were having a fried oyster special which I got. I get annoyed by what people do (packaged food is bad enough with the labeling deception but I'm talking chefs here) to appeal to the masses and do it with sugar. The whipped potatoes were too sweet as was the slaw as was the cornbread (I confess, I like Jiffy). Grrrr... I may as well have had a candy bar.

Ooops, accidentally had a tootsie pop during my son's b-ball game so I wouldn't let my mouth get carried away. But, I passed on the cinnamon breadsticks at Pizza hut.

I'm def going to have to check out this flavored stevia. I have never tried stevia of any kind.

                              Sugar-Free Lent

                              Hello,
Been reading your thread and thinking don't think I can commit to that. But changing my mind right now. Maybe it will be easier with support of a group and also to count sf days the way we all have counted af days.
My relationship with sugar is getting pretty strange. It's feeling a lot like the way I used to do alcohol. Once I have some I want more. Always being conscious of sweet things in my house awaiting my consumption. Picking up something in a store and then putting it back. Feeling proud when I pass something up. Sounds like an addiction to me.
Tomorrow will be day 1. I did pass up homemade chocolate chip oatmeal cookies for an orange after dinner!
LVT, if it had been homemade brownies I would have caved.
                              Will definitely look into stevia.

                                Sugar-Free Lent

Hello all! Day 5 Sugar Free here. It's amazing what sugar does to me that is a lot like what AL does to me. Jonsing, jonsing, jonsing for more. I'm really glad I joined this "give it up for Lent" brigade because the jonsing is starting to subside! What a relief! Now I just have to not FORGET what sugar does to me. I need not trade in the long term benefits for any ill conceived short term "comforts."

FWIW, I like NuNaturals brand stevia better than Sweetleaf. But of course everyone's mileage varies on which brand tastes best to you.

I first got the NuNaturals suggestion off of this site: Healthy Indulgences She has come up with some amazing recipes that are sugar free and gluten free. There are also some dairy free recipes on there as well. Most of the recipes use a combo of Stevia and Erythritol (a sugar alcohol that to me, does NOT have the nasty side effects of others like Malitol...)

We don't have to be miserable in our sugar freeness!
