I would like to invite you all to an 18th birthday party on Wednesday.
It will be 18 years since my daughter had open heart surgery to repair a hole in the heart. She was left with a scar on her chest which the nurses and doctors gave the nick name 'The Zip'
So we are celebrating the coming of age of 'The Zip'

Jackie - seems to me that it would be a more important date to remember than her birthday. The date that she was given a second chance at life...

Jackie - I once worked with a woman who's daughter had similar surgery but at the age of 13. The mother was at work with us when the doctor called to tell her about the hole in the girl's heart. No one had discovered it til then!! I can still remember how upset she was by the whole matter and the fact that her daughter could have possibly died if they hadn't found the hole "by accident". That was 19 years ago but the memory of the mother's distress over it is as clear as if it happened yesterday. BTW - happy ending there as well - the surgery was successful...:h

That's exactly what happened to my daughter, it was her pre-school check and would probably not have been found until she was pregnant.
It's about the only time you go to the doctors when you're healthy, if you see what I mean.

think i can say its a month AF for me inkele: even though feb was a short one. i was going for a month and then gonna drink.... no way. dont feel strong enough, dont trust myself, definately dont trust AL. so im carrying on. i wont drink today.
my pets and plants and partner as so grateful to you guys that they dont have to put up with the crap from the drunken bum that used to inhabit my body :l x

Had a spectacular weekend with my grands, but a lot of driving in horrendous rain, now have to drive all the way back into the city for a doc visit. Trying to wake up. Sooo wish I didn't have this drive, but must go to this one. Oh, well, weekend was worth it!

Can't believe this! My Pain Specialist just called to see if I could wait til Wed to come in. OK, I'm going back to bed. Good thing, actually. I'll at least be rested when I have to drive again. Considering how long so many others have to wait for medical/dental care, I apologize for complaining. This is gonna be for the best!
