    A bit spooked out!!!

    Hi people!
    I just got a message on my personal email from a member on here, saying " I know yu!".
    Its really freaked me out as how can some one know you from the little you give away on here! Feels a bit stalkerish and feel very upset about this. Can some one advise please. Feel like coming off this site now.

        The person who sent you the PM is here for the same reason as you so is not going to start blabbing around your neighbours and friends.

        I once sent a PM to someone who seemed as if we were both going to the same party. It had the same date,same start time and same name of the party girl.

        Turns out we were at completely different ends of the country. Just a huge coincidence.

        Don't let it put you off,we all have the same reason for coming here. To get our selves sober.

          Santy, I'm sure someone could find me if they truly wanted, but WHY?? It would be, in my life, such a BAD move for someone to try to annoy me. I think you've just gotten some rotten mail. It happens. As I PM'd you, the moderators are great here, and I feel totally safe, even at almost 2 years. IF you have a real prob, contact the mods. ONE of the best things here is anonymity.

            Thanks, but im feeling a bit odd about it.. It literally said " I know yu!" No niceties at all, that was it. Is that normal? I know were all here for the same reason but I would like to remain anonomous. How could someone possibly recognise who I am from the few posts ive written.. Is my email adress on view for every member to see??

              No - there is nothing on view for anyone to see. If you click on a user's name next to a post, one of the options is send an e-mail to that user. It comes up with a screen but it does NOT give out the e-mail address. I just verified that. This really is a safe forum. :l

                No, Santy, someone's F'ing with you. I've been here a long time, and have NEVER seen anyone's e-mail address, real name, etc., unless they give it to me. Sorry someone has attacked you. They can't find you. Period.

                  Edit options (left side)
                  receive e-mail
                  make sure there is no check in box "receive e-mail from other members

                      It happens, it's scary. Try to ignore it. I've had people find me, but we give out enough personal info we can be found. Just try to let go of your fears, if it becomes a problem contact moderators. Best wishes.
