    small celebration

Just finished 5 days with my husband's cousins in town. Enjoyed them very much but they weren't interested in my fun non-alcoholic drinks--everyone drank but me. Honestly it didn't bother me. I'm 12 days now!

    Living AF is possible.

Wow. Yeah. well done. My wife and mother had some wine last night. Can't say it didn't bother me. can't imagine doing 5 days like that. Well done!

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

That's awesome! :goodjob: I always think about those 'social' events as times when it is so hard but it's true, when you're actually doing it, it's not as hard as it felt like it was going to be. It seems to me that nobody else really cares what I am doing, as long as they can have their AL themselves! At least that's true with me and my family/friends!

Thanks all for the encouraging thoughts.:thanks:

Mama--I'm pretty sure it was the topa (I'm at 75 mgs)--the beverage of choice was fancy beers--something I used to really enjoy. They didn't appeal to me at all and I credit that to the meds.

Bell this is fabulous news! :goodjob: on 12 AF days!

I think what you are demonstrating is that you are determined, you have a plan, and you are sticking to it no matter what. IMO, that's what it takes. There will ALWAYS be challenging situations.

:happyoggy--You are probably right. I'm just stubborn enough and am done with living my life the "old and drunk" way. I do have a plan, and that does make things lots easier!
