THE NEXT DAY THREAD - APRIL
hello Pan - nice to see you again after such a long time!! Great job on your 104 days ..... and we all know the drill about getting back on the bus. Sounds like some big changes going on in your life too.
It has been very quiet here on the weekends for the last couple of weekends. I had a late night last night and spent all today reading a really trashy novel ............ just popped in before heading out to the supermarket as the fridge is bare .........!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Hey Rubes,
Great to seeya! You too Mr G!!
'The lounge' is my virtual lounge in the music thread I have in MWO.. let me know if you can't find it - tis a lovely place to escape to!
As for my garden, I am V proud to say my little man (master 11) has spent a week of his school hols while I was at work digging a lovely long garden bed on the front boundary (about 40m long by 2m deep) and adding various wondrous things to the soil (previously hard compact clay). I have been working away on the other boundaries for ages but slowly. He accompllished such a lot last week by himself we were able to plant about 50 lovely native screening plants & trees and reclaim that part of our yard that has so long been a weedy wasteland (prior owners were derros who used it as a garbage dump so have spent last year or two removing beer bottles, noxiouos weeds, tree stumps & car parts).
Next thing is to remove giant thorny thing with berries that I think may be hawthorn (noxious weed). Only thing that gives me pause is that there are heaps of glorious little birds that live in it and I hate to lose them. I love to wake up hearing their little twitters. Darn it, I wish I could wait until the other things are grown but I'm feeling guilty about it being there. While lying under the apple tree this arvo in my hammock gazing upward, I saw a whole flock of the little cuties, each with a berry in its beak. I hate to lose my main attraction but darn it what do you do? I'm not sure if it is actually the noxious thing people say it is as I've googled hawthorn and can't find anything that looks like it. Hmmmm.... must try to get it identified before doing the deed.
Panners, great to see you going so well and being reflective about all that has happened. I think you are strong enough now to know your own mind lovey. Just don't be so impatient for a reply on the thread... peeps are off doing stuff, not ignoring you! :H
Have a great time in Bali Waves, will be thinkin of you island hopping and wishing I was there. Great to know you're on track & feeling better & more confident.... and BONUS.. STILL SINGLE!!
And a Hey to Missy B, Reggie, and everyone else out there.

Oooooh Tawny,
I love those little diamond pane windows. I once spent ages repairing some in a place I rented.
Must go and have a hunt in my picture books for an awesome mud house I lived in once.
Straw Bale is definitely the way to go if you've got the space.

You sound positive, and not without direction, at least Panos. And yep, some relationships look a bit different when we're sober. Back on the horse, and all that.
Hello Missios and Fickopopolousos!
A marvellous evening to all malakas.

1> the straw looks rendered or some thing ....what weather proofs them ?
Render = coarse sand and cement with a tad of detergent to act as a surficant.
2> what holds them together when building ?
Threaded steel rod
3> How are they for insullation and warmth during the colder months ?
Walls are 18" thick. Fan-tastic.
4> whats the expected life span ie maintanence period?
Who knows? 15 years later, all is still fine.
5> I think its wonderful the windows the whole thing when are you inviting Kevin McCloud THAT design is the ULTIMATE MAN TRAP...

TF - that looks truly stunnning!!!!!!!!
Mr G - are you on your 3 week break now??
Fickle - wow, I am impressed with your boy!! You must be very proud of him for dong that.
Reggie - the swank places have everything you need in terms of toiletries, travel light!!
Mr B and I have spent the weekend trying to decide our plans for holidays after my family wedding in Sydney in October. We had planned a week in Sydney/NSW and then up to Byron Bay for a few days ...... now contemplating a longer time off and heading to New York for a week (instead of Byron Bay!!) and 2 weeks around Georgia/Florida/Alabama/Mississipi/Louisiana/Texas. Feels very nice to be planning ahead!
We watched "The Dish"" tonight on DVD. (Anyone else seen it?!) Loved it myself but now Mr B wants to go to Parkes (NSW) and Houston (TX) on the trip as well. :HNever give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn
