Last ones, I promise. This is a drive-across bridge my Daddy built with railroad irons 20 years ago, the only way to cross the creek in a vehicle. I had a very introspective day at the old farm, remembering when all my Momma's brothers and sisters were here for family gatherings. Looking at the empty tables where they all sat around, talking about the days when their own daddy grew beans along this creek to feed the cows, hunting along the ridge overlooking this little place. Time moves on, but sometimes I feel like I get stuck remembering what a wonderful past I really come from, and the fear I've never lived up to what I should have been. Sorry to start the day being morose, just a lot to deal with right now, since all the good ones are gone. It does make me want to be the best I can be now, so one day my children and grandchildren will look back and remember this as a golden time, too.

Ruby-I also love to look at your pictures. You are so right that you and your children and grandchildren will make your own memories at your family farm that will continue throughout generations. Thanks for letting me know about the pics. I do so love to post them, just can't help that little niggling feeling of talking too much (always a bad habit of mine, cost me more than one recess in grade school!)
Gracie called on her way home from vacation yesterday, got here just in time for dinner last night. She has learned to get over her fear of water - the last of my grands to learn to swim. That takes a big load off my heart as my little ones are around lakes, pools, and rivers a lot. At least now they know what to do and have a fighting chance if there is an accident.
