      One of my favourites, Maslow

THe one thing I love about my son is that he digs 80s music. Makes it so much easier on the ear to have your young teenager blast that kind of music from his room.

We left (doh!) from home. As you can see, the Garden of Bounce still looks nice & green. Good thing we live in winter rainfall area, so we don't have the same dusty brown environment as much of inland South Africa has.

On the way to Franschoek, we passed through a small town (a row of houses on either side of the road, really). There is a graveyard with what must be one of the best views over the Boland mountains.

We stopped in the Franschoek main road and walked to the restaurant we had lunch at.

The 1st pic is of the local post office. What I actually wanted to show, but didn't come out so clearly, was the stalls in front of the building, run by refugees from Zimbabwe and Somalia.

We walked past a branch of one of the local banks as well. I took this picture because it is typical of Cape Dutch architecture, which you'll find all over the Western Cape.

We ate at a pizzeria. It was lubberly!!! They have the crispiest, thinnest base you can wish for. Mine had roast black mushrooms, garlic, bacon & blue cheese. I took home a doggie bag with the 4 slices I couldn't polish off.

This was the view from our table. See the sign for the gelatos? That's where we had dessert. Mrs. T had something creamy I can't recall, cub had strawberry sorbet, cubette double choc and I had toffee caramel. Yum!

On our way out of town, we drove past the Huguneot museum, dedicated to the French Huguenots who fled France as a result of religious persecution by the Roman Catholic Church. The whole town has a French (and often rather pretentious) air. I am descended from (amongst other hings) French Huguneot stock. I am not pretentious, however

From Franschoek, you have to go over a mountain pass to get to Villiersdorp. This is a view of the Franschoek valley about halfway up the mountainside.
