          NEXT DAY THREAD... MAY!

          Beautiful flowers TF!

I love those first days of life when everyone just sits around and looks at this new person. I've sometimes thought that that line "These are the days of miracles and wondering" must have been written after a birth.

I have some very good news ....... as some of you know my 86 year old mother has been really unwell over the last 6 months and has been hospitalised 6 times over the last 6 months. She is also as stubbourn as an mule, quite isolated as she has little mobility, continues to drive even though she lost her prescription lens a couple of months ago, has refused all home care support, will only go to the Dr when she absolutely has to (despite having two medical conditions that require regular medical supervision), doesn't eat properly, wont heat her house (if she gets cold she climbs into bed with a hot water bottle.) It is by far the biggest stress in my life - quite apart from the obvious worries about her health (and her driving!), she is now quite deaf and doesn't hear the phone, and when that happens I always feel the need to drive down and check on her; plus after the regular panicked phone calls from other family members and her friends when they ring and cant reach her. Most of the day-to-day care falls on my shoulders and I have been very caught in the middle between people telling me I "should be doing more" and at the same time trying to protect Mum's independence and decision-making about where/how she lives.

Anyway, after her last hospitalisation she decided that she might think about rest home care ......... there is an incredibly good one in our area and very close to where I live. Anyway they rang on Tuesday and said that a room had come up and would Mum like it. I talked to her and she wasn't sure that she was ready, but we went down to have a look this morning and she has decided to take it and moves in on Monday.

I cant tell you how much this is like a huge great weight off my shoulders. I feel like being really irresponsible and doing something like taking the afternoon off work to go to the movies!!
Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

            Oh yeah....that's gunna happen :H

            Morning possums.

My, but we are tempting the foreign tourists in.
That baby's been good for business.
Quick. Someone set up a stall with Boomerangs and stuffed kangaroos and koalas.
            We're gunna clean up here.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

              NEXT DAY THREAD... MAY!

On the subject of who's having the next baby made me think of this.

Was chatting with a client the other day when I was offered a drink,
I declined (off course) and just kind of brushed the idea aside,
              but not Him,
His eyes widened and he immediately came to the conclusion that I must be pregnant.

Which I corrected him and told him It would be easy to tell if I was pregnant 'cos I'd be crying.

So definitely no more babies from this corner.

It's great that your mum is happy to take the step to a rest home, that must be such a weight of your mind.

The only babies I'm ever gunna have are the Teddies.
Bridge, I saw SO many stuffed kangas, boomerangs and didge players around Circular Quay the other day... and people were BUYING the stuff. Yerright, lets set up a stall.

At least when you want to go away you can just stuff em in a box Raggsy.
It's a bit more difficult with the loud whiney warm ones.

                      Miss B ,
It is so good that your mum likes the place. That's 3/4 of the battle over. She'll make friends there with people with common interests, so hopefully have a happy time there. Then you will have more time to care for you!! Bye is fairly right in what she says.
Lovely flowers Tawny! The Teddies will have a bouquet of their own on the Tiggger thread later today.

                              NEXT DAY THREAD... MAY!

                              Morning.

Beautiful Blooms Tawny! Excellent news Missy B, fingers crossed the move goes smoothly.

I have my own baby this morning, grumpy little sparrow baby sitting on the patio. have put it in a shallow tupperware and left in sight of the parents, but they're not too interested. i think they might be new at this nest building lark as we've also had a few eggs on the patio. Will keep an eye on it for a while, but will have to move it when the sun comes over, so might end up hand rearing. I know its only a sparrow, but I love to watch them hopping about, making a lot of lurve, and chirruping away.

Oh, and we viewed a really cool apartment with a personal multi-story car park, a kind of car lift thingy so you can fit 3 cars into one space, never seen anything like it. There was also a water feature just the right size for a jack Russell to paddle in I like quirky, so as long as Teen1 approves I think we'll make an offer. It's in the middle of the city, and I want to add city living to my list of 'things I tried'

Hope everyone has the weather they want/need,

                              Have a great day,

                              Bets
