    Katie's Poem...

    Hi all, just thought I would share with you all a little poem i jotted down recently..


    ALCOHOL

    Alcohol breaks the spirit in so many ways...
    It destroys your mind, your body, and your life for days,
    Alcohol is a poison, a lure that draws you in,
    You know it will do you no good, yet you still give in...

    Alcohol promises to make you happy, that it will be your mate,
    Yet it turns on you and turns you into someone you hate,
    Alcohol is the devil in disguise, who promises no harm,
    but you know it will, so you better be armed..

    You learnt your lesson last time, so you tell alcohol to "Go to Hell!!"
    Thankfully for the last time, you managed to break the spell..

    The End

        yep Kate, and the sad thing is the only one we deny it to is ourselves
        coz all that are around us know it know it themselves...
        DENIAL.. IS SUCH A POWERFUL STATE...
        acceptance is the only key for our cure.....!!!!!:h:h:h

          I agree Lady Jan.. Denial is very strong! the mind is very powerful.. its hard to describe.. when one part of your mind wants one thing, the other wants another - its like a constant tug of war with AL in the middle! or the proverbial devil on one shoulder, angel on the other.. :H
          p.s sorry if the poem is a bit lame everyone, but i was bored this arvo and felt like being a bit creative..lol

            Hey Katie there's nothing lame about it...

            writting about our thoughts and feelings about the changes we feel are very theraputic I believe..
            I have written many and I think it is a way we can see so much clearer now, once we are sober...

            the world and our lives are so different from before.....

            the people that have never had a problem with this addiction just DO NOT understand it...

            their reasoning is "well if you have a problem with alcohol, well just don't drink"

            easier said than done..!! and can be extreemly dangerous to do so......!!!

                    Wow Katie! That is really really good, and so very true!

                    I think your around 8 days now? I can tell your creative side is blossoming! It will only get better for you girl.

                    I want to get back to where you are. Really going for this AF May!!!

                      Katie, you put a lot of truth and realism into those few poetic words. Nicely done, it was very cathartic and sobering indeed.

                          Thank you all..
                          It was so true for me last night.. I gave in and I dont know why! It never leads to anything good.. this morning I just feel like a fool.. that AL beat me, that it won that battle.. I am ready to fight it again today though.. with new weapons!
