Advice please

My doctor has stated that he can prescribe medication if I want to stop drinking
He also said the medication (didn't elaborate on the name of it) would not reduce the cravings for alcohol but would make me sick if I succumbed to consuming any alcohol at all ........... is there any other alternative available ........... not entirely convinced this is the way to go???

Has anyone tried this - I would really appreciate your views
I don't know that I want to give up alcohol completely - would like to curtail though

I don't want to kick you out of here but have you had a look further down in the medications section?

There's a good bunch of people there who don't venture out onto the general discussion boards much and they really know their stuff.
