    AL Detox Time

    :goodjob:Hi Meech,
I just finished your wonderful and uplifting thread! :thumbs:I use to be known as Bird of Paradise here a year ago. You are inspiring me to revisit my CDs. I enjoyed them. Also just found a bottle of Calms Forte in my dresser drawer. I think its a sign.
I know what you mean about wanting to be a great mom! Me too. My boys deserve better.
I'm loading up on supps and gearing up to "kick the beast"! I like the idea of the plans you did for the day. ODAT.
    Thanks for a great thread!

      AL Detox Time

Doggy - yes the back holds up pretty ood but when it acts up and doesn't let up for a few days I know it's time to go to the chiropractor. Some things I go to physio for others massage. But this is definitely a chiro day.

Hi July - If my thread can inspire or give any ideas that's wonderful. It has really kept me on track. I had a slip on the weekend after over 46 days - which is more days then I have EVER done AF since I started drinking (minus the pregnancies of course!).

Yes I listened to the hypno CD today. In the middle of the day. I sometimes feel guilty about taking an hour out of the middle of the day when I should be doing errands, kids etc.... But I need to just take the opportunity when it arises as sometimes at bed time it's just too late, too tired and then i don't get at it at all. my back is out so that made it easier to find an excuse to just lie down for an hour.

Glad you are loading up on the supps. Make the plans and kick the Beast where he deserves it!

        AL Detox Time

Must take some time to listen to clearing CD today. Back is still pretty bad so no exercise for me for at least 3 more days. I think I'm going mental and my next triathlon is 3 1/2 weeks away with serious hills and elevation issues. Crap.

Okay calm down. I do need to set up a good plan when I go away to the farm with the kids in a few days because I will not be able to come to MWO!!!!!!

Going to put down some great points that people have said here plus my own little sayings and rehearse them when i get up each morning, just before craving hour, when cravings hit and of course WHEN I LAY MY SOBER HEAD DOWN ON THE PILLOW.

I am a little anxious and stressed about the trip home as it will again bring the realism of my twin passing as I will be with all my siblings (although it will be good to be with family), and I won't have MWO and there will be lots of beer around.
I am sure this anxiety is also a contributor to my back suddenly going into spasm for no reason. In times of stress....

Work on MASTER SOBER PLAN for trip.
        1. Do up my secret sheet of mottos, sayings, points to remember to keep me sober
        2. Bring an arsenol of AF drinks to every pool side function
        3. Declare the designated driver for any places we are going. Once I tell family I will be the driver then I have to stick to my promise.

Hi Meech I hope your back gets healthy very soon. I have problems too. I use the NSAID's and stretching in the pool as therapy. I also use a portable TENS unit. Enjoy your weekend...john

BTW, I also take this supplement and it's great meech if you care to try it...

Thanks Techie, I'll look into that. Training is contantly breaking things down to get stronger but sometimes it's too much. Espeically at the tender age of 42 - ha ha!

I have been taking omega 3's daily, for a couple of years to keep inflammation down, but ran out over a week ago and I keep forgetting to buy it. Go to the drug store and think "hmmmm what is it that I need for supplements". Then I go home and remember. grrrrr. Must write down.

I know I have not been dedicating enough time to stretching after hard workouts especially on the bike. My IT Band and hip flexors are brutally tight. Typical I do stretches and strengthening when I am hurt but, post injury and when I can get back at it I conveniently don't have time.

A few people have said acupunture has been very effective for them. I'm okay with needles might give it a try. My hubby has it covered with his health insurance so why not.

What distance Tri's do you do? I have been doing Olympic for about 9 years. Once my youngest child is in school I may branch out to half ironmans (must be sober living of course). Right now I enjoy the challenge of going hard for about 2 1/2 hours or so but I don't have the time to committ to longer races.

            Meechie!

In the past I did half ironmans. Now I train for international/olympic tri's distances. Make sure you get those omega 3's. I never had accupuncture. I have had rolfing which I recommend. Again, feel better soon...John

No one in the house. It's so quiet. I am going to sneak an hour and listen to my CD's. This is a very rare moment in the middle of the day.

Techie - Good for you. A friend who does mostly marathons, told me to google trigger point. She and her husband have been injury free this past season (and they both had hip and knee issues when they get into the long distance training). so I'm going to get that book too. It sucks being injured. I'm crawling the walls wanting to run, bike and even swim. My workout consists of using the torture roller (foam roller) and stretching. I'm still eating like I'm training so that's scarey.

Papmom - Keep cool if possible. Look forward to seeing a picture of that pond!

Hey Meech!! Sounds like you had a rare afternoon of peace and quiet!! I'm glad you were able to listen to the CD and get some laundry done. I am so looking forward to Sunday when I can give this pigsty of a home a good cleaning, do about 1000 lbs of laundry and hopefully landscape the pond and at least relocate the fishies. Oh and fit in a jog/walk too!!

                    How are you feeling? Better?

I am still amazed that everynite around 9, when I would have been full into a bottle of wine, I am looking forward to climbing into bed, reading and dropping off naturally to sleep.

I think of you every day and I send you cyber waves of hope that the beast isn't being too hard on you each day and that if he is, you are popping him good!!

How far east are you coming for the family reunion?

                      H Papmom,
The back is sloooowwwwly coming along. I ran 3km this morning. It was tender but didn't feel any worse then how it feels standing, walking etc... So I will start running again short and easy for the next few days and see how it goes.

I send back a big cyber hug your way too. Good luck with the pond.

I will be travelling from British Columbia to Ontario. Flying into Toronto and then heading a bit more east from there. Very hot and humid there on Lake Ontario so the pool and beach will be where the kids and I shall hang. Do some fishing with my brothers and maybe go out in the sailboat. It will be fun to have the kids on the farm. they love it there and with their cousins (whom are many!).

Well back to packing!! Thanks I'll check in tomorrow one last time before I leave.

I am drinking my newest mocktail. White grape juice, carbonated water fresh squeezed lemon, lime and oranges over crushed ice! Yummmola!

Hey Meech-you won't be all that far from me, within a days drive I think. Maybe not. Anyway, it sounds awesome. Farm, pool, beach, sailing. My kind of vaca!!

Yes, please check in tomorrow before you leave.

I love your new mocktail. Will have to give that one a try!!

                          AL Detox Time

Slipped again. I was drinking my mocktails going well. Then i decided to have a beer. Because I will be going to Ontario and will be AF the whole time why not one more night. Stupid. :durn:

I didn't go over board and feel pretty good this morning. I had a good meal and hydrated before bed but still shouldn't have had that first drink.

So I didn't put any big goals in place after my 6 week Detox so here it is...

Stay completely AF the entire time I am in Ontario. That's 10 Days AF starting today. Shorter goal but it will be tough on holidays. Oops I MEAN it will be done, I will be successful because I Choose what happens in my life. And I WILL make the right choice.

I have my affirmations printed out (one for the purse and another in my pocket for quick ASAP reading). Should have read them last night before the first drink. Won't make that mistake again.
I have all my supplements packed.
CD's packed to listen to at night.

The Mocktail I made is really delicious so I will have my non drinking sister-in-law with me and we will be mocktailing it the entire time. And making sure I EAT at craving hour. I know better.

Take care all my MWO friends. I will be strong don't you worry. I will enjoy everyday to the fullest and rest my played out sober head on the pillow each night. I went AF for over 40 days I can do 10. I shall Miss you.
                          :l:h:thumbs:

                            We'll miss you too Meech!!
I'm glad you didn't go overboard last nite-it would have been hell to travel all that way hungover.
You are learning with each slip. You have to really really want this for all the right reasons or it's not going to work. Hopefully this vacation will afford you some down time so you can look deep inside and figure out what is missing. I hope you'll be able to carve out some "ME" time to listen to the CD's everyday. Just from reading your journal during your 6 weeks that seemed to be key.
Good job on packing the supps and the affirmations as well. Make sure you use them!!
Just an idea, but maybe while you're back east, you might be able to find some Topamax?? Not sure if you need a script in CA. At the very least, try to find some GABA. It's what turned me around, I swear! It is supplementing some key amino acids in my brain I was missing.

                            Have fun!!! Miss you already!!

Hi Meech. I know you wont get this til you get back but I just wanted to say hi and see how you are going.
Not sure if you have read my post in general section but to cut a long story short - I drank too. However I feel it was a good thing for me to do as I have dispelled so many myths I had built up over the last six months. I dont have any worries about continuning drinking, I have learn my lessons and moved on. And luckily apart from a killer hangover, not too much damage done either. (I DO NOT miss hangovers.........)
You too can do the same. Learn what lesson you need to when you do drink. If you just drink and not learn something then it is a waste.
Your trip home will be good for you, although I do feel for you missing your brother. I hope your back is better now and that you can continue training like you do.
I am off for an early night as we flew in late last night and I am exhausted as it is full on at work with the change in ownership.
Will be thinking of you while you are away. And if you do slip up, dont beat yourself up. We are still here for you no matter what.
Take care and have a great time.
