AL Detox Time
Hippy, Papmom - You are truly terrific! Thank you for always supporting me and really caring about me. You are so right Hippy when you say don't focus soooo much on the future. Just live today. And today I love my tangerine lime drink very refreshing. I do not want anything else. 6 months ago I would be craving most days for beer.
I really think I am finally building up some good AF habits because I think about alcohol much much much less than I use too. I still have those days but there so many days where AL doesn't really come into play. I am so thankful for that. And hopefully those days get fewer and fewer.
Boot Camp starts tomorrow morning (Tuesday and Thursday). I am on the fence if I'm going to join. I do enough exercise but I am guilty when it come to strength training, core conditioning. I swim, bike, run and hike. I don't really enjoy hitting the gym or doing specific exercises. BUT I need to do more so I can be injury free and not wind up with my back out again.
We shall see if I get up at 6:30am or roll over and enjoy my zzzzzzzzzzz.
Thanks again for always being so awesome! :l:h And I also mean Molly, JC, DG, Techie and so many more great people here!

Hey Meech,
I hope you get up this morning and go to Boot Camp. My sister is doing a summer long one and she really likes it. she goes 3x/week. I would love to do it but I can't afford it. No machines, just using your body to build strenght and balance. Go for it!!New Birthday: May 8, 2010

Molls, I had a job like that once. It was very physical as well as psychologically difficult and all I did when I got home was crack open a beeer and veg in front of the TV. I didn't want to talk to anyone or see anyone. Well, we all know how that turned out : ). Now I have a boring job with no activity and I wish I had more money so I could do agility every nite and weekend. I guess we just have to take what we've got and make the best of it. You recently said you were able to go shopping and buy much smaller clothes so I wouldn't worry at all that you're not "active" in your free time. I'm bettng your job takes care of the extra calories!!

Molly, Molly please don't be so hard on yourself. And you are neither of those bad descriptions. I may workout a lot but if you saw the state of my house you may want to go get some dynamite! :H I swear for every room I clean the kids are messing up two. I am working at a losing battle!
Well I rolled over and skipped Boot Camp. My neck was pretty sore after the triathlon (set in the day after). So I listened to my body and took a couple days to rest. May try Boot Camp next week.
Hippy - Boot Camp is like a hard core fitness class done outside. It usually uses your own body for weight/strength training, lots of core conditioning, cardio. Sometimes there's medicine balls, rubber tubing and even playground equipment encorporated into the exercises to keep it creative and fun. I use to teach them each summer but now I'm taking it a little more easy and would rather be a participant - less thinking for me I just have to show up.
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I'm good, been AF all week so far (except for last Sunday after the race where I only had a couple thanks to the Nal). No real cravings.
AND just when I said I was going to take it easy (job wise) this summer I took on a part time job 3 evenings a week! The pay is great and the REALLY GOOD PART is it is during the "witching hours" when I crave AL so I don't have to worry about those evenings.
And the evenings I have off I am going to plan on some early morning HARD workouts that will force me to drink lots of water and behave the night before. It's all about setting up obstacles for that AL Beast! :boxer:
Despite the busy last few days I have managed to listen to my CD's a few times this week and I am going to take advantage of my children being at a friend's house right now to lay down for another listen and well, maybe a little powernap may happen too. :H
I have tonight off and friends are having our family over for a Potluck Dinner. This group of friends are all non-drinkers so it's almost awkard if you show up with booze. Hurray!
Papmom - Thinking about you lots right now and wishing you a happier day. I posted on your thread. Hang in there you are on the RIGHT COURSE and I think you are healing inside everyday you don't drink. Remember early stage. Things can turn around and you are doing the right thing to allow that to happen by staying sober.
Touch base in a little while. :h

Hey Meech, my house is a bit of a dogs dinner as well!! Nice one with the part time job. I work 2 evenings a week and I really enjoy doing that now - used to HATE it when I was drinking (ate into my drinking time!). Enjoy your Potluck Dinner - I'd love to have non-drinking friends, mine are all as bad as I was back in the day, they don't admit it tho!! (maybe they're not QUITE as bad!)
Goodnight to you

Hey Meechie-congrats on the PT job! What is it? Inquiring minds want to know if they can look for something similar!!
Glad to hear things are going well this week for you and that you are getting some Meech time.
Don't feel bad about the house-mine is CHAOS to the max (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome). My concern for the kids during the tornado warning last nite overrode my embarrassment about how disheveled the house was so I asked my neighbor to go over and get them all in the basement.New Birthday: May 8, 2010

Well I managed to clean the bathrooms. Two rooms in the house are spotless. The kitchen looks pretty good too. As for the heaps of clean laundry...well they just aren't folding themselves and going in the drawers, so that will be on tomorrow's list. And the living room looks like a toy bomb went all. Oh well.
Potluck went well. I must confess if I would have just been home tonight I may have had to take the Nal, as I could really feel the cravings starting. Thank goodness we said yes to the Potluck. Ate tonnes and let those cravings fading into neverland. I am so glad we have some circle of friends that are complete non-drinkers.
The next 2 nights I work so I won't have to worry about AL interferring till at least the end of the weekend. Oh my new job is serving at a fine diing restaurant so the tips are excellent. Lots of take home cash that the government can't dip into quite as bad as a regular pay check. And if I take my work home with me, well it's food! :H
Well really need to get those kiddies to bed. Catch ya all tomorrow! Sleep tonight, sober head on the pillow again.

Listened to my Hypnotic CD first thing when I woke up. Man did I ever sleep in and I have no regrets because the next two days are crazy busy and I will be not getting enough sleep.
Probably won't post or be back on MWO until Sunday evening (which will be Monday for many of you). So don't worry. I work at my old job tonight, my new job tomorrow night. Coach running group early Saturday morning and going on a spectacular hike Sunday finishing off with a baby shower at a friends. Yikes. I am definitely sleeping in on Monday morning.
Have a great weekend everyone filled with all the things you ENJOY doing sober.
Hope you can stay cool Papmom it's going to be very hot here too!

Wow was I exhausted after this weekend. Wonderful amazing breath taking and gruelling hike on Sunday.
Then I caved on Sunday night. :dang: Took the Nal one hour before and guess what - it didn't work at all. I binged and felt like crap yesterday. Hmmmmmm. Guess it's back to the old fashion way. No magic pills.
If I am going to cave I'll try it again. But I think I better work on not getting to that stage in the first place. I have been AF mostly. Should have known better. I do realize it works for some people but it certainly didn't tell my brain to stop Sunday night.
It's that whole reward system. Worked my arse off Friday & Saturday night. Did a mock running race Saturday morning and HUGE FREAKING Hike on Sunday. Very beautiful and very gruelling. Lots of elevation gain to a glacier fed lake.
So when I got home that evening it was REWARD WITH BEER. I thought well I have the Nal so perhaps it will be a couple. WRONG. Lesson learned. Yesterday was spent napping before work. Deadbeat Mom - Gross.
So today is AF2. Screw the Nal back to dealing with it head on - strength, courage, distraction and reward myself with something other than booze. Seriously what kind of reward is that when it poisons you and you feel like sh!t for the next 24 hours. I will still take the Nal if I know for sure I'll cave but I'm just going to fight like hell not to get to that point. :bat
Having a good day today. Hard bike session and cleaning before I head off to work tonight.
Papster, Hippy, Molly, Nora and all hope you are doing well. Looking forward to another sober night! I do hope your spirits lift. You are all such good people. :h
