Crowgirl ..... Evening Primrose is good for PMS. It is part of the MWO starter pack, although I confess that I have no idea about its use in relation to alcohol. I just take it and have done for about 20 years!! The other thing that is supposed to be really good is salmon and other high oil fish because of the Omega-3's.

I have relied on both for a long time because I have really bad endometriosis and hence incredibly painful and difficult PMS. Things have got better over time ......... but whether that is a result of diet, surgery or ageing I have no idea!!

But they take a bit of time to have any effect. While you are waiting for them to do so, the same old tried and true strategies in relation to alcohol will work - ie; dont buy it, dont drink it

Hope you get to feel better. Those days when you burst into tears at a moments notice, or snap at a remark that would normally not provoke a reaction, or just want to be in bed with a hottie (that's the rubber version, not a real life one) are not fun. :l

      I need a PMS plan

      Hi Crowgirl.

I have been taking the supps since I started in January and havent had PMS since. I used to get it bad every month. i would become an axe murderer and look out anyone who got in my way. I would always know I was due as about three or four days before I would have such a strong desire to get drunk. Always on my own and usually to blackout. It was like an urge I couldnt control. I would usually end up in tears but it seemed like a relief.

However something in the starter pack is controlling that.

I have run out of most of the supps however I am continuing to take AllOne, evening primrose oil, mega B and calms forte. So one or a combination of them is what helps. Now I only know I am due when my boobs gets sore. I have lost that uncontrollable rage. I also havent had a cold sore since january ( I would get one the week before my period). So something is stopping that too (thank goodness!).

      Good luck with your journey.

Wow, great suggestions! I think I'll look into the AllOne. Right now I'm taking L-Glut. It's been working wonders. I'm about 4 days away from my period and (dare I hope) I don't feel too bad. A few aches and pains, but there's not that "I need a drink now and nothing's gonna stop me" feeling. Glad to know someone can relate to that.

Yep, yup, and OH GOD, yes.

I'm booked for a physical on Wednesday and that is something I want to discuss with my doc - not sure if it's getting worse or I just finally clued in. Evening Primrose is one I heard, also Black Cohosh (sp?)... will let you know what my doc suggests :l

I have the same issue, and a 21 day cycle. Not drinking and exercising helps and I take Flaxseed Oil caps for the Omega 3's.

When I was in the UK I used to have acupuncture which lengthened my cycle, haven't found an acupuncturist here who could get the same results.

I hope you have some relief, and remember you're not alone!

Hi Crowgirl, when I went to the docs about my depression and drinking I explained to her exactly what you are feeling that the urge to drink is more when I am pre menstrual, she told me that this was very common. I too have good success with the suppliments and just have the sore boobs now. I am taking an all in one called Well Woman, Milk Thistle, L-Glut and Kudzu (shake me and I rattle lol) :H:H:H

Ah yes.. the wonders of PMS! The things us women have to go through.. no wonder we are the stronger sex! (i hope no guys are reading this.. :H)
I find that when feeling irritable, it is best to just slow down, try to relax and take some deep breaths.. eating well and drinking lots of water helps too.. drinking AL will not help at all. it just makes me tired these days (im getting old.. lol!), and sometimes depressed.. but take some time for yourself, have a bath and pamper yourself..

totally get where you are coming from!!!

I totally understand and hear you loud and clear. I have not always drank to the extent I do now, maybe my hormones are all over!!! lol.... I remember a time when I would not drink all month then 5 days before my period I would drink for the whole of England and then just go AWOL of my brain that is and of course my dignity. I saw the pattern. Then depression took hold....

I did find some relief in exercise and evening primrose oil. Also a healthy diet. It was hard but I did not know I was 'coming on' and never wanted to drink, so there must be some truth in it. It was not hard, it was about a mind set, I think, somewhere along the line I lost the mind set and now my drinking consumes me. I am continually trying to achieve this equilibrum.

Try Milk Thistle, Healthy Diet, B Vitamins, C Vitamins, Evening Primrose, slight exercise, be it walking and cycling and embrace that period.... Much love me

                    I need a PMS plan

                    Alrighty... back from doctor's appointment.

The word is: CALCIUM - 600mg twice a day, she said.
                    And exercise.

                    That's pretty much it.

Evening Primrose, while once hailed a wonder ailment and still heavily marketed for 'that time of the month', apparently has not proven to actually be beneficial (at least not for this particular problem).

Another interesting thing came up (nothing to do with PMS)... I might add that to one of the smoke-quitter threads: She said cut down on coffee (caffeine, in general) before attempting to quit smoking. Apparently, while smoking one does not get the full effect of caffeine, so when stopped, one may actually OD and feel nausea, heart racing, anxiety, etc.

                      I need a PMS plan

I stopped suffering from PMS when my I really started to get towards my rock bottom emotionally via my AL intake and use. I guess I felt so rubbish and depressed everyday that it didn't make any difference.

Now I'm sober well I had all that trouble with migraines then had to come off the combined pill, onto the POP and I'm not sure where I am in my cycle. I think that's a blessing in disguise as you do start to get into the mindset "well it's the week before my period so I can expect to be grumpy, agitated, moody and want to drink". I'm also working jolly hard at this AF free thing so might not be noticing it either.

Thanks everyone! Glad to know I'm not alone with this. I'm 26 days into my cycle and 12 days AF! Going for 30 and then re-evaluating...

I'll add calcium to the mix. That's one thing I haven't tried....

                          What??? No CHOCOLATE????!!!! :egad:

Chocolate fixes everything. It's SO superior to AL it's not even funny. Green & Black's Organic 85% Coaco. The dark chocolate mint version is awesome too. And then there is Lindt's and also Ghiard-however-you-spell-that. Or Dove. Or Hershey. Bars or Kisses either way.
