    No More Butts...The Beginning..

hey oney, do keep posting, its and inspiration, youre doing so well. im still cutting down. after my drinking cock ups the smoking went a bit hey wire too but im more focussed again now. as ive said before i dont think im ready to quit right now but im cutting down a hell of a lot which is good for me at the moment. im on lozenges but i have to actually get round to putting one in my mouth instead of a smoke (should be an easy choice really). i think i will keep a note of how many i smoke and maybe when and what i am doing. keep up the smoke free zone its fantastic
Today is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine

I think that is a great idea Spud. get a little notebook and just write down every smoke you have, what you are doing and how intense your craving is.....much easier to identify and tackle your triggers!

So far I have bought a new PC desk and went half on buying my son a new bike...

The benefits of quitting smoking are numerous...everyone will have one that jumps out for them more than the others. For me it was the addiction and vanity (did not want a mouth like a cats asshole)

Oney - You are doing amazingly Girl! Im really proud of you...

For years my skin was crap whan I smoked, I had lots of open pores. Now 14 years later, even although Im older my skin is SO much healthier and not an open pore to be seen. Now with the no drinking as well, its bloody amazing but I really do look 5 years younger!!

When I went for a cycle the other morning with this damn cold I've got, I felt that burning in my lungs that I remembered from my smoking days whenever I exerted myself. You will soon get rid of that tightness and be able to take whopping BIG breathes!

Im here rooting for you :yougo: and I hope some others join in too...

Spuds - I was really conscious of mine and asked a skin specialist about how I could get rid of them, 1st Q they asked me was do you smoke? And if so thats the cause......

                  Oney!
You are doing so awesome! I am so proud of you! I feel like I abandoned you in your journey, I am still not AF yet but working towards it...wow, it is so difficult. You are truly an inspiration to me though, and I always think about how successful you've been with your quit. I hope to join you soon. I have a new quit date in mind, so I will once again join this thread when it gets here.
Keep up the good work, you rock! And also, your butt looks amazing.

Congrats, Oney! You are doing awesome! Ciggies are just plain old disgusting! Although I am still smoking.... tried to quit several times. Kind of half-heatedly though.

I took my sister to the ER last Thursday. She was having a huge anxiety attack that mimicked a heart attack. Anyway, they did what they would do but also took an x-ray of her lungs.

At the age of 36 she has severe lung damage from smoking! She is on the cusp of emphysema and now has to puff on an inhaler every day.

The good news is that she is able to reverse a lot of this damage if she quits smoking.

Yesterday, I went with her to the pharmacy, and she bought the starter pack of 'Champix'. it is pretty expensive but it makes you sick if you smoke after a few days. Kind of like Antabuse and drinking (although Antabuse makes you sick immediately).

Her experience has scared the be-Jesus out of me! I'm 2 years older, although only smoked heavily while drinking (and I had a few years of doing that!).

It is time to quit! I am going to quit after this pack is done. I have 4 left and then that's it!

After that ER experience with her, it was quite the reality of what smoking does. Not to mention I work in the hospital and see people dying of cancer... like DUH!

Anyway.... good job Oney! I am going to be with you on this band wagon!

please note: I have a cigarette hanging out of my mouth on this profile pick. Will keep it as a reminder of how UNATTRACTIVE it is to smoke!

Thanks IAD. That's about the size I wish they were. I mean when I was a smoker. I quit a few hours ago. I hope the shaking stops in a few months!

kepts a note yesterday of when i was smoking. unfortunately coming on here i have a cuppa and a smoke. and between gardening i rested with a cuppa and a smoke. didnt smoke after 5pm, i rarely do. writing it down and being aware is a step in the right direction. 7 roll ups in total. i would say i enjoyed maybe 3 of them. bloody stupid isnt it. 2 so far today (coffee and on here) im off out later so i will take my lozenges and see how i get on. stinky horrible killing sticks

I can give up the booze, but giving up smoking I wouldn't even try, at least not yet. Once I've nailed the booze demon to the wall I'll think about the fags (that's cigarettes to you Americans - not things that go bum in the night.)
I will keep an eye on how the quitters are going, especially one2many and maybe that will inspire me. I'm already delighted that I'm saving $20 a day on booze. Cigs here in OZ have now been hoisted to $14.20 for a 25 pack so there's another incentive. I won't comment on the tax component of the price except to observe that in Shanghai a pack costs 69 cents.
