I have developed a dry cough tho that is very annoying...I also had pains in my lungs last night....
I hope that it is just my body recovering and not a sign that I have developed some horrible disease from 20 years of smoking...

DAY 60!!!!!!
I am 60 days smoke free today and loving it.
Things are going very well and smoking just is not an option for me anymore, I can be around smokers now and feel nothing cept gratefulness that I don't have to do it anymore. I don't mean to sound smug by saying that but I really am so very grateful to myself for doing this and for giving myself this gift.
I highly recommend it....

I want to come back and join in! I bought a pack today, though I told myself I wouldnt.. but I really REALLY want to give up! My new partner does not smoke which is great, so he is totally supportive of me giving up.. I only have 20 left to go, then I want to give up.. any tips one2many? how will i be able to cope?!!!"It works if you work it, because you are worth it!!!"

Katie, maybe do the free online quit smoking course that Fallen Angel posted on this thread, you can do it whilst still moking, in fact, I think it is best if you do it that way.
Firstly make sure you REALY REALLY want this Katie.....
Then tell everyone....getting support can be invaluable and does make you somewhat acountable.
Decide if NRT is an option ( personally I would recomend cold turkey but some may disagree, whatever works really)
Then throw out all smoking stuff, smokes, lighters, ashtrays etc.
Write down all the reasons you want to quit and keep it with you at all time.
Get a jar and put al the money in it that you will save by not amoking.
Use this thread every day and post how you feel and get support .
You WILL cope Katie but you will need to be strong and not give in at the first hurdle or upset. It is GREAT that your partner does not smoke, mine does smoke and it does make it harder to stop.
There is NOTHING to be gained from smoking...NOTHING at all, it does NOT calm you, make you feel better etc, that is an illusion.
Also for us women, do you want a mouth like a cats anus???

I will definately take those tips on board.. I do feel ready, and strong.. as my partner is so supportive, i know I can do it, with him, and this thread helping me.. I will set the date for Tuesday I think, as I don't work (= less stress!) on Tuesdays.."It works if you work it, because you are worth it!!!"
