    No More Butts...The Beginning..

Way to go K9! I quit smoking successfully about 7 years ago using the nicotine gum.

It took me a while to get off the gum, reminds me of the movie Gwenyth Paltrow was in, "Shallow Hal" when she said that she had quit smoking by using the gum, and now started smoking again to get off the gum!:H

That's not going to happen to you and it didn't happen to me either, just a funny memory it brought back.

    Keep up the good work!

        No More Butts...The Beginning..

I'll jump in here. On Monday, I started on a 14 mg. patch. I take the patch off at night, as dreams can be too vivid for me to handle! So Day 3 here on off cigarettes, but not nicotine. I'm still counting this, and when I get off the patch, I'll begin day 1 no nicotine. I know I'll go down to 7 mg. when I'm ready. But I'm not in a rush to do anything so as to not jeopardize my 4 days AF...damn that freaking slip on Saturday! Oh well, here we go!!!

Way to go J-Vo! I had never tried the gum before, and I'm suprised at how well it's working. I got the 4mg, and the instructions said to have one piece per hour, up to 9 pieces per day....WHAT??? I only had 4 yesterday all day and today I've only had 2 so far. Will probably have one more tonight as I'm laying in bed watching Netflix. There is a strong warning not to get addicted to the gum...but I'm thinking that won't be a problem for me since I'm only doing 3-4 pieces per day. I view the patch and gum like I view Antabuse for alcohol...they are TOOLS that we are lucky to have...so lets use them!

Agreed K9! And you're on the right track with the gum. There's even a 2 mg. when you're ready for that, just like I'll go to the 7 mg patch. Good luck, and I'll check in here daily, as I need support for this, too! O my, the issues are never ending!

I have been quit for 3 Days, 21 hours, 36 minutes and 15 seconds (3 days). I have saved $12.37 by not smoking 39 cigarettes. I have saved 3 hours and 15 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 12/1/2013 12:00 PM

J-Vo, I saw the 2mg gum at the store but it said if you smoked your first ciggie within 30 mins of waking up then you should start with the 4mg. And honestly, that first cig 10 minutes after waking up was my favorite of the whole day....

Anywhoo....day 3 and going strong. Only 3 pieces of gum yesterday! I'm hoping by day 10-11 I'll be off the gum completely...although it was expensive so I may just chew it all. LOL

K9, don't cut down too quickly. Sometimes doing that creates too much pressure. Take it slowly. I'm going to do the 14 mg for two weeks, then go to 7 mg. for two weeks.

k9, good to hear. We don't want to set us up for failure! Day 6 here with patch on. I have to say, a few times I wanted to rip it right off my arm this week, but pushed through the temptation.

Frequent, do you have a plan in place for this? Are you quitting cold turkey?
