The best advice I ever got about how to deal with a craving, was not to resist it...but rather, (with your eyes closed), let the feeling wash over you like a wave... and actually lean into it.
It goes along with the thinking "what we resist, persists". I did this little exercise many times, and it worked.... even on those HUGE cravings when we think we will literally die if we don't have a smoke! lolAF 6 years

In general, most of us think that a craving "hurts"... that it is actually painful. But in reality, when we take away our preconceived ideas of what it really is, we find that it is more of an energy that feels like a huge wave that wants to engulf us...even crash down over us. If we can stop what we're doing, and sit quietly, close our eyes, we can feel this surge of energy.
The key is to relax & let it wash over you.... let yourself FEEL the sensation.... and you will come to realize that this is in no way a painful feeling, in fact.... it is something quite profound as you feel this washing over you. And that's where the "lean" comes in... lean into the feeling.... invite it in.... and take in the whole experience. This might last a minute or so. When you feel the wave has finished.... let yourself remain relaxed & take in what you feel. Then slowly open your eyes. You will feel like you have been on some surreal journey! Almost a spacey feeling for a few minutes. Once you get over that, then it's best to get busy with something.... and if possible, try to do something different from what you were doing that brought on the craving.

hey everyone is doing so well. its great having support. earlier today i was in town and had an urge to smoke, i didnt have my lozenges with me but ho ho ho i had my smoking stuff. sooo tempted. in the end i popped into the chemist (i was going in for my campral anyway.. GOT IT AT LAST) and got some more lozenges.. extra strength. the pack says its for people who smoke over 30 a day. i never have but ive been chain sucking the lozenges in the morning so i thought id give them a go. its 7.15pm here. i rarely smoke in the evening so i think i have blasted through today. pats on backs to us methinksToday is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine

Arrrghhh have not read back...but have had the WORST Craving ever...
Had a big row with a neighbour whose child beat up my son..I am stilll shaking with anger and have NEVER fought over kids in my life but when my child came in bleeding profusely, I had to go and sort it out..
I would have smoked a cigarette off a scabby knob and lets face it, if I were to be honest, I would have loved a vodka too......long time since I have had a feeling like that. Scary fleeting thought..
I am trying to calm down...but I won't bleedin give in.."It's not your job to like me, it's mine!"

Chill, love, chill. I'm getting on my butt-kicking boots and will be there directly. It's a tough row to hoe when our male offspring are trying to find their way into adolescent/teen/adult life.
