I could eat my way through a row of tobacco plants, so NO! No cracking.

                      No More Butts...The Beginning..

                      Morning All,

Despite the day from hell yesterday I am still smoke free and feeling very proud of myself...
In the past, the slight little upset used to make me return to smoking....but I realise that there are always gonna be tough days and stressful times so better learn to ride them out than give in...after all a smoke aint gonna change anything lol...

Having said that, last night was HARD, cravings were ever present but I used Fallen Angels tool about leaning into the craving and it does help!

ANYHOO.....bit of a raspy voice this morning and keep having to clear my throat, so I guess clear out time is not far off...

Sleeping fine and eating well...will weigh myself later to see if I have put anymore on!

Thanks for all the support, thereis NO WAY in hell I could have made it without you all.

LORDY! Hubs came home reeking of cigar smoke yesterday. I can't put pressure on him right now - he's under too much as it is. He also drinks a couple of beer in evenings, but that's something for us to work on when he retires. (Sooner better than later!) His job has become very political. Anyway, K-9, jump back on board - it's a bumpy ride but the destination's great!

                              No More Butts...The Beginning..

Hope you guys don't mind me butting :H in here again, but I get so excited when I see people making the commitment & effort to quit this horrible addition.
The early days of your quit can be difficult, but with the right mindset, you can make it so much easier... and believe it or not, enjoyable. Yes... you read that right: E N J O Y A B L E .

                              Attitude is everything!!

When we focus on the positive aspect instead of the negative, quitting takes on a whole different perspective. We find that we look at situations totally different... consider the situation of looking a group of people having their smoke break. If we carry the attitude that not smoking is depriving us of a pleasure, then we start harboring negative & resentful thoughts about quitting, and there's a good that we won't remain quit for very long. However, if we engage an active positive attitude, we can look at that very same situation and think to ourselves "I am so thankful that I no longer smoke & have to stand outside to get my nicotine fix, I feel sorry that those people have to do that"..... and we leave with a very positive, empowered feeling about ourselves.

And when we start to educate ourselves about the effects of nicotine, we come to know that people don't smoke because they want to, they smoke because they HAVE to. (The nicotine level drops, the body & brain sends out a signal (craving) to replenish the drug it needs to return it to its comfort level. Because nicotine dissipates quite quickly in the body, this is the reason we must re-medicate ourselves so many times in a day).
The good news about that is, when quitting cold turkey, the nicotine is out of your system in about 72 hours.

I have other tactics that helped me tremendously in my first months. If anyone would like to know what helped me, I would love to share them with you.

Be strong in your conviction of staying quit today... take it one day at a time, one minute at a time if you have to.

A little tip that helps a lot of people with cravings is to drink ice water... sucking on cinnamon sticks can help too.

                              Remember...
there is no such thing as one cigarette.... they travel in packs.
