Just finished Allen Carr's book The EASYWAY to Stop Smoking. Had my last cigarette last night (as instructed to in the book), when I put it out I said to myself "YAY! I'm Free) (as directed). Made it through this morning without smoking because I'm not "giving up" anything, I am finally FREE! Gotta keep this attitude, that is the key to success. So here we go.........

You're awesome Oney!
I remember starting when you did, but I failed and you kept right on going....you are definitely an inspiration to me!
I think the book will help me so much, it really does make sense, and like he described in the book, I'm actually happy and excited to quit, I'm not "giving it up", because we really aren't giving up anything except poison!
I'll keep you posted on my progress:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Day 2 nicotine free! I feel good so far, different from the last time(s) I tried to quit. It's all mental for me now, I realize that I'm not "giving anything up". This will be my first NF weekend in years!:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

No nine I might check it out. I'm an intermittent smoker. I can go days w/o and then I'm on the pack. Most of my friends don't even know I smoke!Outside of a dog a book is mans best friend. Inside of a dog its too dark to read

K9 - I'm an Allen Carr disciple, quit smoking after I attended his clinic many years ago and used his alcohol teachings to get sober.
So make sure you kick the filthy little rats dropping scumbags ass of a nicotine monster if he even tries to suggest a smoke too you!"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

im cautiously dipping my toe in here as im still not sure if my head is in the right place for this. not even confident about getting through a day... but here goes. ive been feeling pretty crap about smoking lately. few of my friends (the ones i now choose to be with sober) smoke so im always the one outside having a fag, and im very aware of blowing smoke in there faces. also im waking up in the night with a bloody awful cough. surely this is enough to make me stop. anyway, i finished my tobbacco last night and dont intend buying any. sitting on here without a smoke is a first. unfortunately coming on MWO is a big smoking trigger. well here goesToday is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine

hmmmm.. i suppose i could sneak in and delete my post .... yet another false start, lasted all of 5 hours before trotting off to get some baccy. 5 hours less smoking than i would i suppose but totally crap. sooner or later my head is gonna get in the right place for this, but its obviously not right now :upset:Today is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine

Spuds I don't like to be harsh but your head will never feel like it's in the right place, smoking is a powerful addiction and whenever you got through it, it's going to be tough, you just need to get through the initial pain barrier. Believing that one day you will just find it easy is denial..... Sorry"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

Day 3 - Not that I am really "counting" (wait, didn't I just count? lol)
Made it through my morning coffee (which I thought would be the BIG obstacle, turns out it wasn't!) I'm constantly thinking of what Allen Carr said "You're not giving up anything" which is so TRUE! The thought of a cigarette now almost makes me physically sick.
Spuds - You can do this too. I can't recommend the book highly enough. First get in the right mindset then read it...you will be amazed at how easy it actually can be. I know it seems hard, but just open your mind.
Have a great day everyone (another sober Saturday...yay!)
