No More Butts...The Beginning..
:kudos: A Big Congrats K9 :clapclap:
I think you know I'm a decade ahead of you. I started smoking like at 12 or 13 sneaking them. But then stopped. Then again at 15. Stopped during pregnancies & nursing. I think maybe two or three. But, I was very good, but then right back at it later. It's horrible addiction that I must stop, if I'm going to live & age well.
The thing is now that I'm sober & have some clarity, I think more about my health & survival. I have one pack left & my emergency pack in the car. Yesterday bought the patch. Any day now I will be joining the club.
My hubs & two daughters don't smoke & they are telling me to stop, but I'm finally saying it's time. A bit nervous tho.
Did you ever join that quit smoke site Lav or somebody here spoke of ?
I will read back this thread to. I did at one time & what I found helpful was the positivity parts, not the condemnation. I looked at this one site a while back & it was super scary. I don't think that's going to help motivate me.
I will do this, I can, I must. I am strong & I want to live well!

WF - You ABSOLUTELY can do this! Sounds like you're tired of smoking. That's what got me started, just plain old tired of the habit. I was a closet smoker so for every cigarette I'd have to rinse my mouth, spray on perfume, wash my hands, and even then you could smell it. I also sat down and thought "What does smoking do FOR me?"...I know what it does TO me...there's a difference.
When you are ready, jump on it...there's strength in numbers!:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:
Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.

I think I have some confidence regained that I can do it! My Mom quit at 48 cold turkey. She said if I really want to do it & set my mind to, then I can. Just like what your saying. She didn't have Internet support or cessation aids either.
I might be a cry baby & crank puss, but I have to do this. I mean whats the point of getting sober if I'm going to kill myself off with cancer sticks. There isn't one. I have two beautiful daughters that are going to need me. They are so much more than just my daughters today, we are Bff's too.
Thanks for your support, your another Captain & Leader around here & we all appreciate the time you give!!!... :l

I know BOTH of you can do this...I will help in any way that I can. Smoking has turned out to be easier to STAY quit than drinking, but getting started quitting on smoking took a lot longer, and I had A LOT of failures. For me, getting past 7 days...every day of the week, was a huge milestone. Plus, I get a pretty little sticker every day I don't smoke. Oh, I also get a sticker each day I don't drink, oh...AND each day I give my dog her medicine. LOL Yeah I like stickers, so what. HA I'm here if you guys need me!!!:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

I need to quit as well. It's scary because it's such a crutch for me. I am thinking about Celexa? Something like that...my ex's mom said it helped her tremendously. My bf wants to quit also and I think he would if I did.

Hey LG,
I've never heard of Celexa, but I gave up smoking by buying 3months worth of nicorette patches going from 21mg and tappering to 14mg and then to 7mg...
I admit there have been two times since i originally quit (Apr 2008) where i've slipped back into smoking for a few weeks... so then i bought the lozenges. But not touched them for a couple of years now.
Smoke free now.
